bile Club he started CASC. In the beginning he purchased equipment himself to get the club going. Meetings were held at the Clif- ton Town Office and some were even held at Red’s camp on Chemo Pond. Next year marks twenty years the club has been in existence. We are still plugging along with a handful of very dedicated members. We always welcome more members to our merry little group and Dola is still providing homemade goodies at each meeting! Our season has just kicked off this month and we are talking about moving our meet- ing day back to the first Sunday evening of the month. We have tried different week day nights and seem to run in to conflicts, so we will attempt Sunday nights again. Sunday seems to have the least number of conflict- ing schedules, so we will see. We continue to meet at 55 Bradbury Brook Rd. in Clif- ton. It is out there, but it’s also where our trails begin and the new building is, so that is the spot! Please come join us! The SUV groomer is getting some repairs done to it to get ready for the new season. Just like any other equipment, minor repairs are needed in order to keep it going. It and the two sleds are enjoying being under cover out of the weather, but they will be eager to go once freezing temps and snow come. Before then it will be trail maintenance work just like everyone else. CASC has a handful of dedicated people who brush and clear the trails. Again, more hands to complete this project would be greatly appreciated. If you would like more information about us, to join us or just volunteer a few hours clearing trails please call Nancy at 843-7270. Until November, everyone please be safe doing trail work. The Officers, Directors and Members of CASC BLUE RIDGE RIDERS, sc Rockwood, ME We had our first meeting of the fall with 21 members in attendance. Our meetings are on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 7pm and are held at the “club- house”...Brad Scott’s great room. (No meeting in December) We had our 12 th annual Pig Roast on Sept 4 th . (It is always on the Saturday before Labor Day so mark your calendars) We served 225 dinners and Dottie had more raffle prizes than ever. We had a special sur- prise visit from Al Swett, VP and Safety Offi- cer of the MSA. This was the most profitable Pig Roast to date. Mike Hoyt presented Dottie Boynton with a plaque that read;

They are $10 each and there are cash prizes up to $1000 drawn every day in February! To buy calendars if you are not local, Text or call Mike Hoyt at 207 441 0937 Secretary, Gail Hoyt

Deadlines for club news is the 25 th of the month prior to the publications. Please submit articles to editor@mesnow.com

We will be following all CDC guidelines and covid restrictions for all above events. Please check our Facebook page or website for changes or updates. Good news! The MSA Snowmobile Show in Augusta is on! October 22nd through the 24th at the Civic center. I am told it has almost sold out of vendor space!! Take a trip down and see what’s new for snowmobiles, snowmobile accessories and trailers! It was very nice at our open house to see some new faces, some returning faces and some kids enjoying the day the food and of course the snowmobiles on display. Come join the club, volunteer if you have some time and of course enjoy the season! See you at the clubhouse Troy G, Trail Grunt Our membership packet has been received and the cards are in the mail. We did get some unexpected and not welcome news from a new landowner. No snowmobile trails or people are allowed on the property. We have a small section that is on the property edge so we will be relocating that. Luckily other landowners have stepped up and given us permission to move the trail onto their property. We have never had any landowner relation issues so this is a first for us. When we get everything set, we will send emails and post notices for volunteers. We will have to do this relocation before the snow flies. There was never any announcement about Old Town Riverfest so that fundraiser was lost to us. We are still plan- ning on our Fishing Derby and Vintage Ride in February 2022. Our Hunter’s Breakfast is a work in progress. We are back to meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays starting in October. See you on the trails!! want to say thanks to everyone who main- tains the trails and we hope you all stay safe and healthy. Hi to all, Summer has left us, there will be some warm days, but the cool mornings remind us that it’s time to finish getting landowner per- mission for use of THEIR land for trails and trail work, The grants can then be finished and approved, after that trail work can be done and there is plenty to do with 120 miles of trails, If you are able to help call Kevin at 738-3400, Till after Hunting season is over we will plan on Sundays to be safe and not interrupt land- owners and other people’s use of the land. Cheryl is sending out Memberships and Super Raffle Tickets, both are important to help fund the club. $1 dollar of every $2 dol- lars is the club’s, this year’s raffle has 6 grand prizes plus the 34 other prizes. We sold tickets at the Springfield Fair and Wildfox Cabins, a business member, has been doing a great job selling tickets again this year. The snowbirds have begun migrating south which has shown in the lowering of attend- ees at our Breakfasts, which are 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month all year long. We will be having TWO Lobster Stews this fall and winter. October 11th is our first meeting of the year which setting dates for the Stew will be finalized. Summer is over! We are starting to get our trails updated We plan on widening the By Pass Trail so that we can use our groomer on it. This summer we got a nice shale platform for our John Deere groomer to sit on until snow comes. Many thanks go to Mark Jenni- son and Mike Theriault for the work done on the crushed shale and leveling. Next summer we hope to make a shelter over the groomer tractor. We have also cut a better approach for the groomer to the Muzzy Road. Looking forward to a great snowmobile season. Welcome to Fall! A snowmobilers favor- ite season! Cooler nights and changing leaves means the start of monthly meetings and trail work. It’s busy season at EMSC with fundrais- ing, rentals, landowner appreciation and trail prep. We just had our annual membership drive / open house chicken barbecue event. We were lucky enough to have local businesses TBA Inc and Bangor Motorsports bring over new trail- ers and new snow machines for people to look at. Anyone that bought a new membership or renewed an existing membership got their meal for free! Thank you to Jan and Tammy for the chicken and the cooking. Thanks to Eileen and Nancy for the salads, and Brent for the ice cream sandwiches. Up next is our landowner appreciation din- ner. This event is for our gracious landowners. Without these landowners allowing us permis- sion to access and cross their properties we would have no trail system. So, our October meeting every year is for them. It is a roast pork dinner complete with pie! October 17th 6pm. Trails First trail work is scheduled for Sunday morning October 3rd. We will meet every Sun- day at 7:30 at the clubhouse. If you can spare some time please come and help us we have a busy year ahead. Along with our regular trail maintenance that includes tree trimming, brush cutting and bridge maintenance. We always have some trail reroutes, and need to take care of landowner issues and properties changing hands. Want a free membership? Anybody who volunteers 25 hours or more of trail work gets the next year’s membership on the house! Fundraising MSA Super Raffle tickets are in and I am told sales are brisk! This year’s prizes are larger than ever. $1 from every ticket sold stays right in the clubhouse that sold it! 300 Club tickets have been printed and are available for purchase. How this works is we only print and sell 300 tickets and each num- ber is good for the whole 6-month season (even if you win your number goes back in the pot and you have a chance for the other remain- ing months). Prizes are as follows: $500, $200, $100 and 4 at $50 for a total of $1,000 given away each month. Each ticket is $30 and is good for all six draws starting in November. Rentals - Our clubhouse is available for rentals. Check our website for information and availability Upcoming Events Oct 17. Well it is that time of year, days getting cooler with less daylight. Memberships will be going out soon. We are working on getting PayPal set up on our page, will let you know when it happens. New bridge put in over Howe Brook on ITS trail 86 West. Membership supper scheduled for Oct 19th at 6pm, eat in or take out will be available. Pray that everyone remains safe practices social distancing, until next time, Respectfully submitted, Judy “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart”. We live in a busy world where between work and family life it can seem impossible to fit in the hobbies that give you joy. Once you squeeze in those few hours for throttle therapy out on the trails, your free time is spent and you can’t imagine fitting one more thing into that busy schedule. This is true for so many, which makes us so thankful we have the volunteers we do that take the time that could be spent out riding, working or with family to still lend a hand so that others may enjoy a smoother trail system or take part in an organized ride. At Linneus Sno Sports we are a small club with a lot of heart. We enjoy planning our annual Poker Run, which brings out friends and families to our trails, they take part in a great day outdoors and meet back at the clubhouse to warm up, get a belly full of good food and win various prizes donated by our generous local businesses. It takes a team to make it all come together and our team was very appreciative this past season to be recognized for their hard work maintaining our trail system and orga- nizing events such as this. In April we were the proud recipients of the Maine 2020 Spirit of America Foundation Award. This letter came as a pleasant surprise and gave us all the more motivation to go into Winter 21-22 with plans to be better than ever. We’ve got plans for our clubhouse and trails, upgrades to our website, fresh ideas to grow our memberships and (hopefully) volunteers. Thank you to everyone who came and rode with us last year, we hope you’ll come visit again. Jonelle Murchie Secretary EASTERN REGION LINNEUS SNO SPORTS Houlton, ME

A big thanks to all who donated food and prizes and to everyone who helped with the setup, take down, serving, cleanup... Trail Master Carey said that, as usual, some of the trails may be changing so we need to be prepared for extra work opening new trails. There is a lot of trail maintenance and wid- ening already planned and anyone who can help will be much appreciated. Asst. TM and mechanic Levi has changed fluids and ser- viced the groomers. Should be good to go! VP Brian Scott is working with some new folks and some regulars to line up and train groomer operators. If you are near Rockwood and would like to groom give him a call.

It’s official!! CASC has a new building and it is dedicated to club founder “Red” Hodgins (see picture). The club officers, Jan, Dola, Nancy and Eileen were on hand when the sign was installed. Red had a vision for a snowmobile club in Clifton and with help and guidance from Eastern Maine Snowmo-
