We collect cooking oil in a 50-gallon drum, which when full is picked up by Maine Standard Biofuels. The recycled oil is used to create biodiesel fuel, home heating oil, asphalt cleaners and release agents along with other cleaning products. We collected and recycled approximately 100 gallons in 2022. We also collect small quantities of motor oil in a separate 50-gallon container. Public Works Department picks this up and recycles it by burning it in the waste oil furnace to help heat the garage. We continue to separate and keep clear glass in a bin in hopes of eventually finding a place to recycle what we have amassed.
We would once again like to extend our thanks to the Public Works Department for their help throughout the year. They help us with various projects such as plowing and using their equipment on the grounds of the transfer station. We appreciate all that they do.
Respectfully, Norman Lowe Transfer Station Manager
