Town of Mechanic Falls Annual Report 2019-2020

Community Day 2019 was our 10 th Annual Community Day Celebration. Participation has grown greater each year. This year Jen Kyllonen organized the parade. The parade started at the Vineyard Church parking lot and proceeded to the center of town. The theme was “Books Inspire

Imagination” and all the floats were wonderful. Hannaford of Mechanic Falls had a Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs, the Mechanic Falls Library presented Stuart Little with a canoe on the back of a truck, Recreation Baseball and softball teams marched, along with the Daisy, Girl, Boy and Cub Scouts. There was face painting, a magic and juggling show. We also had vendors, kids’ games, pie eating contest, and a photography contest that was promoted by the Mechanic Falls Historical Society. Gavin Herrick won the Fire Department contest and got a ride to Elm Street School on the fire truck. The American Legion had a chicken barbeque and held a corn hole contest on Friday night. Dirigo Credit Union, Northeast Bank, Future Foods and Hannaford sponsored events and may community members donated to keep the event going.

It was a fun day but as usual we couldn’t do it without all of the volunteers. Feel free to call the town office for information about volunteering for next year’s celebration.
