It’s great when clubs can share ideas and plans and to stay connected. That’s all for this month but maybe I’ll meet you on the trails. If you have any questions about the trails/grooming you are welcome to call me or by husband, Mickey at 764-1236. Mickey is the club president and also grooms. He can give you an update on the local trails. Stay safe and stay right. Sue Maynard Secretary Despite the low snow totals we’ve received so far, the trails are in good shape. The cold weather has really helped build and maintain a solid base, and our groomers are making the most of what we have. Both groomers have been going out daily (weather permitting) roll ing out the white carpet. A big thank-you to Glenn and the guys who are busy keeping the trails in the best shape possible. Your time and dedication do not go unnoticed. Our January event featuring Chad the Hyp notist was an absolute blast! Thank you to all the volunteers who bravely stepped up to the stage and helped make the night such a suc cess-especially Caitlyn, Chrissy, and Eric, who kept the crowd laughing for a full two hours. We may have had someone take a nap in the crowd, as she may have gotten hypno tized after leaving the stage-you know who you are! You were all amazing sports! The chicken stew went over very well. A special thank-you to Carrie Wall for volunteering to help cook the stew, Tara Cusack for provid ing desserts, and Kristi Dunham for setting up and keeping everyone on track. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Portage PORTAGE LAKERS sc Portage Lake, ME funding for trails, believe me the MSA officers work tirelessly on this. There is a bill in the legislature right now, LD 1547, to increase registration fees. Yes, we are taxing ourselves, BUT we are going to get quite a few bucks out of all the free loaders out there that won’t even join a club. So folks, you wonder what the MSA does for you, if you didn’t get the answer out of last month’s paper, think long and hard about where the trail money comes from, yes the STATE, however if we, the MSA, wasn’t constantly fighting for you I am, not sure what would happen. SO WE NEED YOU “ALL” TO BE MSA SUPPORTERS. I appreciate all the input from clubs and take your concerns seriously, don’t ever stop checking with me about your concerns, I will look into them with our entire executive group of MSA loyalists. What a great meeting the January Director’s Meeting was. We had 58 people in attendance, great supper put on by the NORWAY TRACKERS. A lot of good questions were asked and a lot of good answers, I felt everyone there was left with their bellies full and their minds refreshed with what the MSA does. What a great group of volunteers we have. So, bring on the BIG ONE today, and let’s all get outside and play. Till next time, GOD BLESS, Jerry Major Here we are again, wishing for more snow! The trails are thin, and even after grooming, the snow disappears quickly. Please ride courteously and safely. Slow down and ride the conditions we have so we can all enjoy the trails and ride again tomorrow. A big thank you to Steve and the Clinton crew for hosting a recent meeting. We all shared the same concerns, and it’s clear that every club is working hard to finish preparations. When the snow does come, we’ll be ready! On a somber note, I want to offer my condolences to the Jackman Power Sports family for their loss. Dave was a true legend in our community. Thank you all for what you do as club workers and MSA members. Your dedication keeps our region strong. Ron Nunes H ello Central Region Members,

Memberships still coming in and sitting at 90. The Splanman is alive. More next month. Jim Splan Go Pats ROCKABEMA SNOW RANGERS Patten, ME Well, the New Year has started out white and wonderful!! It’s been an interesting month to say the least. The temps have either been Spring like or frigid temperatures making it hard to breathe. This year, winter is here!!! I have seen lots of sledders in the area and new rid ers coming into town. Everywhere you look the town is bustling with visitors from every where. If no one has said it, “Welcome and thanks for sledding here!” This week’s meeting was full of informa tion. Les came and gave us a run down on how the new trails app works and let us know about areas on the trails that either needed signage or extra work. With the winds blowing, the rain melting our bases, the trails have strug gled. With this new snow coming and the cold weather, I am hoping to see things back in tip top shape. I would like to say a special “thank you” to Charlie Kenney, Mike Hanson, and Duane for working so hard fixing the railroad bed trail that was washed out by those darn beavers, getting our equipment up and running and grooming trails. If there were others there, thank you as well. There will be new signage going out for sledders to pay close attention to. Please remember to watch for those signs, they keep accidents from happening. If the sign says “STOP”, then stop. If it says “CAUTION” watch ahead. Please we don’t wish to hear about any injuries or deaths on these trails. Snowmobiling is a fun sport, but like all sports
your helmet is on your head for a reason. We are still looking for a few more takers on the $50.00 raffle tickets. The winnings are pretty great and it benefits the purchase of a new groomer and garage that is desperately needed. Please contact me, Carilynn Hanson 2036876403; either text or call. You can also check out our webpage for other ways to pur chase tickets. The drawing will be in February. Well that is about it for now – Happy Trails Everyone Carilynn Hanson We are finally snowmobiling and the trails are great. It just took a little longer before we got enough snow, but that seems to be a pat tern these days. But our trails were all packed before we began to groom. Our grooming crew and members worked hard to get the blown down trees removed from a recent windstorm and are getting into their rhythm of grooming. We had to reroute a trail due to a new housing development so that made for extra fall work also. There are always a few problems every year and it takes a diligent crew to keep the whole system ready when we need it. I hope your holidays were filled with laugh ter and love with your family and friends. It sure seems to creep up a little faster every year or maybe we’re getting a little older! I’m still just like a little kid, I can’t wait to get to snowmobile each year and I’ve had a few rides, but no long trips yet. Mainers need to have a hobby for the long winters, especially in the county. But all of the trails are look ing good and the clubs are all grooming. We have worked with the adjoining clubs and a few small problems have been taken care of. CHAPMAN RIDGE RUNNERS sc Chapman, ME
