white gold and we have a good year for snow mobiling. As you should know, we are a com bined atv/snowmobile club and a small group of us have been on several trips around the state. As I ride these trails, I see snowmobile signs and think of possibly riding them in the winter. Having a snow plowing business makes it challenging to get away too far from home or for too long. Fortunately, we have over 30 miles of trails right here in our own town and connect to trails in surrounding towns.

to authorize the purchase of new tracks . . . let’s just say most folks could buy two complete sets of tires for their car for the cost of this specialized equipment. In addition, Trailmaster Josh -- an experienced mechanic -- says one has to figure on spending about 30 hours for each track replace ment as there are around 260 bolts which need to be taken out and then put back in . . . I suspect Josh has actually counted each of those 260 bolts when he has done a track replacement in the past. And as many folks know, our members don’t get paid a dime for their work . . . which is why I always say one of the best things you can do for your local groomer is to thank them when you see them. The Club is also investigating the possibility of opening or re-opening a trail to Spaulding Lake this year . . . although some kinks will need to be ironed out before this occurs. Some of the Club’s “old timers” may remember the Club hosting var ious events on the lake in Winters of the past. Finally, you will want to mark your calendar for one change if you’re hoping to attend the December business meeting . . . we’re moving our regular monthly meeting from the first Tues day of the month to the first Monday. Same time -- 6 p.m. Same place. I suspect by early-De cember no one will be showing up in shorts and T-shirts though . . . at least I hope not. Irrespectively submitted: Jason Johnson CENTRAL REGION There was no work performed on our RTP grant project in October. We are getting ready to start up again in November. This is a sig nificant effort to rebuild two more bridges in partnership with the Bureau of Parks and Lands to meet our clubs needs and also lay the foundation for Parks and Lands to man age their property. Our contractor, OBP Trail works (obptrailworks.com) specializes in trail construction and has the equipment and know how to operate in remote environments. They are doing a great job and are highly recom mended for your project. Our volunteers have been out on almost all our trails, trimming trees and cleaning up so we are in very good shape to start the season. We have one more work day scheduled to fin ish up and then get our machines converted to tracks and ready for snow. Our new Polaris 1000 has been put to work cleaning trails; we have put almost 100 miles on it so it is nicely broken in for grooming. It has been equipped with lighting and drag control wiring plus some safety items and our operators are excited to start using it. We will again publish the regional C4 map and those will be available from participating clubs and at the Rome Town Hall. Our meet ings are the second Tuesday of the month Sep tember to April, 7:00PM at the Rome Town Hall. All are welcome. ROME RUFF RIDERS Rome, ME

Having said that, crews have been out working on their assigned adopt-a-trail duties. Repairing bridges, cutting branches, brush, and clearing fallen trees, as well as signage are among the many projects being worked on. We are thankful that the United Way holds its Day of Caring at our local high school in the fall and a group of students are interested in helping our club with some of these projects. Thank you to all that helped, from deliver ing lumber to the work site to instructing and supervising the students while they worked on redecking a bridge and clearing a trail. And a big thank you to the students that provided the labor, it was greatly appreciated. In closing, I would like to remind everyone that it is membership time. Membership runs from October 1 st through September 30 th so please renew yours now. Also, watch our face book page Monmouth Cochnewagan Trail blazers for news and up to date information. Students from Monmouth Academy helping the Cochnewagan Trailblazers with bridge and trail work. It’s that time of year again — the leaves are falling, the air is crisp, and we’re revving up for another great snowmobiling season! We kicked off the season with our first meeting on October 2 nd , and what a great night it was! 16 members and 2 dogs gathered to reconnect after a sunny Maine summer. A special high light of the evening was celebrating Ken’s 80 th birthday! Big thanks to Estelle for bringing not one, but TWO delicious cakes to share with the group. We also enjoyed a hearty pot luck dinner, and it was wonderful to be back together as a club. Membership letters have been sent out to current and previous members. If you haven’t received yours yet, please reach out and if you know someone who might want to join, spread the word! Greetings and salutations, Sacopee Valley Snow Drifters (SVSD) welcomes all outdoor sport enthusiast to our monthly meetings, that are on the first Tuesday of every month from September to April at 7pm at the Kezar Falls Fire Station in Porter, Maine. If you enjoy our 60 +/- miles of snowmobile trails, please consider joining our club and supporting your sport. Every member helps ensure the clubs future. This past monthly meeting we had two (2) new members join the SVSD club and want to help maintain our sport. We look forward to having more new members this year, having a good time maintaining and riding the trails of the Sacopee Valley Snow Drifters. Contact us to find out how you can help... Sacopee Valley Snow Drifters - John Lam bert - Club Reporter. Hi Folks, Well, not really a whole lot to report on right now. Campers and boats have been put away for the season, and now it’s time to focus on our trails. We’ve been very fortunate to have two or three solid crews head out every Sun day morning to tackle the trail work and bridge repairs. There are approximately 50 bridges on our trail system, so there are always repairs needed to be done. We appear to be ahead of past years, mostly due to running two brush hogs full time. Those machines do a great job cutting back all the swale and raspberry bushes, and make quick work of heavier brush too. And to think we used to do it all by hand with weed whackers. Like many other clubs in the state, the off-season means fund raising. This year, we held five go-kart races at our club, raffled off an AR style rifle and a shotgun, and was a food vendor at one of the largest car shows in the state in Old Orchard Beach. These efforts put an additional $10K in our bank account to help with everything from trail maintenance, equipment repairs, club house improvements, and the ever-rising cost of insurance. cancer patients in our area. Thank you to Rose Staton for organizing this event. This month, we had Hunter’s Breakfasts at the club house on Saturday mornings from 5 am to 9 am. Trail work was moved to Sundays during hunting season. Thank you to the guys out on the trails and also to the gang at the club house that provided a good lunch after all their hard work. Our 5 th Annual Friends and Family Thanks giving Dinner will be held at the club house on the 27 th at 2 pm. Come join us for some great food and desserts. We will be having our Annual Club Christ mas Party at 5pm on Saturday December 6 th . This will be a pot luck and will include a Yan kee Swap. ($10 per gift) Then on the 31 st at 7 pm we will be having our New Year’s Eve party. Come join us for drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Here’s hoping that the Farmer’s Almanac is right and we have an “old fashioned winter” with frequent and heavy snow. Come on Snow!! Katie Grant

Greetings Snowmobilers, There has been a lot of activity at our club recently. Last month the guys were busy on the pole barn and fixing up the (new to us) drag. The ladies got in on that by helping with the painting. We also had a Barn Quilt Painting gather ing as a benefit to help defray expenses for 2
