CENTRAL REGION MOOSETOWN RIDERS Allagash, ME We met a couple times over the summer to plan for fall work and fund raising. We are currently selling tickets for a gun raffle as well as MSA Super Raffle Tickets. If anyone is interested in either of these, contract a club member. We participated in Madison-Anson Days in August where we sold raffle tickets and memberships. Plans have been made to have a club house work day repairing some window trim and doing some painting. Trail work discussed for the fall includes a trail reroute, repairing two bridges as well as the usual trail brushing. We are offering a park and ride location at our club house at 1463 Lakewood Road, Mad ison. From here you can easily access ITS 87, the Kennebec Rail Trail, plus trails to the North. Donations for parking would be appre ciated; a drop box will be installed at the club ABNAKI SNO-RIDERS Madison, ME

We’re not just members, we are friends as well. We continue to meet year round, off sea son meetings are hosted by a member with other members all pitching in. Unfortunately 2 out of 3 meetings had to be held at the club house due to thunderstorms each time, go fig ure, the only two times it has rained all sum mer and it picked those two days. West Gardiner celebrated its 175 th birthday with a parade and cookout sponsored by the town. Club’s Honda side by side participated in the parade and a booth with membership applications and information on the club was available. Trailwork resumes in September. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a good amount of ride able snow! We had some time off this summer before starting more bridge work on our west side trail. The work is being funded through the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). We are planning to completely rebuild two 25 ft. bridges from the abutments up. This project will complete a four-year effort to replace all the bridges on our east and west side primary trail, a total of eight bridges. For those not familiar with our trail system, we have a basic loop that starts and ends at Long Pond. In the middle of the loop is ITS 87. The loop segment on the east side of Long Pond is named the “east side trail” and the seg ment on the west side of Long Pond is named the “west side trail”. For logistics reasons we have a primary and secondary groomer on the east side and another pair on the west side. For years we have struggled with reliable groomers on the east side and for the past 4-5 years we have been using personal equipment for pulling drags. So we are very excited about picking up a new Polaris Ranger 1000 XP to act as our primary groomer for the east side. This machine will be paired with a new 75” drag that we purchased last year. We will again publish the regional C4 map and those will be available from participating clubs and at the Rome Town Hall. Our meet ings are the second Tuesday of the month Sep tember to April, 7:00 PM at the Rome Town Hall. All are welcome. the annual Caribou Cares About Kids parade this year. The theme for the parade was Car ibou on the Move. What better way to show our community on the move in the wintertime then with snowmobiles. With about 2 weeks of planning and build time, we felt it was a great way to highlight our annual Caribou Lake radar run. With the help of a great racing family and club members Phil & Mallory Wil ley along with their dynamic duo of Parker & Vera Willey our club was able to take home 1 st place for best themed float in this years parade. We would also like to thank Priority Tractor & Equipment for the use of a trailer to build our float on and for their continued support of our club. Congrats to the local ladies VFW auxil iary, Guerette Farms and the Caribou Boy’s & Girl’s Varsity Basketball teams on winning as well in the various other catagories. Now with fall just around the corner it’s time for us to turn our attention to trail work that needs to be done before the season begins. Our big fall trail project for the year is rerout ing a section of our Connor trail that connects with the Caswell club. We have about 5,000 ft of trail that needs to be cut through a thick wooded area along with two swamps that need to be opened up to get around a solar project a previous landowner is putting up. We’d like to say thank you to the new landowner that is allowing us to utilize their land in order to build this reroute. The club along with Cari bou Parks & Rec. will be working with a local contractor to get this project complete before the season begins. Planning is getting under way for our Annual Caribou Lake Radar Run that supports our Larry Doody Memorial Scholarship that we give to local students going onto college and studying a hard trade. Lastly like many clubs throughout the state we have MSA Super Raffle tickets for sale. We will be making a post on our social media pages for a way for you all to reach out to us to purchase tickets.

We also faced an unexpected challenge when our longtime snack shack burned down. While it was a tough loss, the outpouring of support from members, neighbors, and local businesses was incredible. Thanks to hard working volunteers and generous donations, the shack was quickly rebuilt better than ever, and we’re excited to welcome riders back to enjoy it again this season. The experience reminded us just how strong and dedicated the snowmobiling community really is.
