BLUE RIDGE RIDERS sc Rockwood, ME We had our September meeting at Darren Milliken’s “ Megawatt Lounge”. We discussed our annual Pig Roast (which is always the Saturday before Labor Day at Moosehead Sled Rental... mark your calendars!) This year’s Pig Roast was another great suc cess and we fed nearly 300 people in spite of the rain. The raffle was bigger than ever thanks to all our generous donors and ticket buyers. A huge thanks to Kate Tiffany, this year’s “organizer in chief” and to the 2 or 3 dozen volunteers who made and served food, roasted the pig, set up and took down tents, tables and chairs, sold tickets and clothing and cleaned up the entire thing, “like it never even happened”. There was discussion about some trails that need fill, trimming and bridge repair. Trail master Levi Tiffany is making plans to get everything shipshape by snowfall. As usual Barry E. Ryan Vice -President G.L.R.S.C. Barry E. Ryan Club Reporter K.S.R.S.C.

there may be trail changes and president Mark Boynton is working with landowners, large and small, to keep our trail system open. I have mentioned in the past that we have a group of hearty young(er) members who are really pulling their weight. Every club needs new members to help the old guard who burn out, age out or who just want to ride. All we need now is cold weather and snow! Enjoy! Mike Hoyt BALD MOUNTAIN SNOW RIDERS CLUB Dedham, ME We are excited to kick off another snowmo bile season. We are pleased to announce the acquisition of a new to us groomer, which can be seen in person at our monthly meetings. We look forward to deploying it on our trail system this winter. Trail workdays will com mence soon, and we can always use an extra set of hands, please follow us on Facebook for the latest updates. This season, we have three bridge proj ects planned, with the most significant being the redecking of the Mill Stream Bridge. As always, we remain committed to enhancing our trail system year after year. Our meetings are held on the second Mon day of each month from October to April, starting with a potluck dinner at 6:00 PM, followed by the meeting at 6:30 PM held at 8 Bald Mountain Road, Dedham. Membership forms can be found on our website at https://baldmountainsnowriders. wordpress.com/join-our-club/. Becoming a member is one of the easiest ways to support our efforts. We look forward to a great snowmobiling season this year. Amber Kirby BMSR Secretary COASTAL REGION Hello local sled heads! Crisp mornings and leaves falling only means one thing... snowmobiling season is just around the corner and after last season I’m ready for a blockbuster of a winter season this year! A few of our cub members have been extremely busy out clearing trails that were totaled due to last season’s storms. Every trail seems like the top of trees landed right in the middle of the trails. Some trails it’s like noth ing was ever there, completely gone! It takes 1-2 hours just to go 20 feet. It’s only been a small amount of volunteers that have done miles of trails so far, and manpower seems to be the only thing we’re lacking as we have many more miles of trails to go. We’ve also been out relocating and rebuilding bridges all over our trail system, so far, we’ve completely rebuilt 5 bridges, 3 of which were in a really bad area. So hopefully this season we got that taken care of for years to come! Anyone interested in joining the club can be done at rt 11streakers.com or join us on the first Sunday of the month at 4:30pm for our club meeting held at our clubhouse located on Doles Ride Rd, Limerick Maine. Trail work is every Sunday till snow falls we usually meet at clubhouse then go from there, weather per mitting. Check us out on Facebook for any updates or trail work or just follow along! landowners and volunteers who make this sport possible! Think Snow and join a club! Joe Walsh, President Hi Folks, Here we go again. The summer has wound down and there is a bit of a chill in the air. We hope you had a nice summer, particularly since it was so much better than last’s years rain out. Back in April, we had some severe weather in most of Maine. There was a lot of damage throughout the state. We spoke with landown ers in our area about getting out on the trails to clean them up, but most asked us to wait until ROUTE 11 STREAKERS sc Limerick, ME SACO PATHFINDERS sc Rockwood, ME Find us on Facebook

Fall, because the felled trees will help keep ATV traffic off the trails. As you may or may not know, ATVs are strictly off-limits on our entire trail system (Saco, Scarborough, Bidd eford, and our portion of Dayton). With that said, we’ll be plenty busy once we get back into the woods at the end of September. The Pathfinders host several go-kart races during the summer months and it is a nice fundraiser for us. I can’t thank the volunteers enough for their efforts. Not only are there 12-15 volunteers per race, but several mem bers spend countless hours prepping the track and making sure everything is ready come race night.

Shows a LOT of growth -there is a SNOWMOBILE TRAIL & BRIDGE there

In September, we had a food booth at the OOB Car Show. We’ve done this for a few years now, selling breakfast sandwiches and coffee in the morning, then clam cakes and french fries in the afternoon. It’s a lot of work, but we are able to add some nice cash to the trail fund. As an added bonus, one of our members, Dana Ouelette, took first place in his truck division, while his wife, Michelle, was busy selling food and MSA tickets at our booth. You are well aware, our winter conditions for snowmobiling in southern Maine have been dismal for the past six or seven years. We filmed a Reny’s commercial at the clubhouse in early February and it was nearly 60 degrees. A friend of mine, who works mostly in the outdoors, said weather conditions typically run in a 12-year cycle. He said for us to expect the winters to start getting colder with better snow conditions in the next couple years. We can only hope he is correct in his assumptions. Cheers, Doug Doherty, President Happy fall season from the Limington Crankers, and as we all know that means time for trail work. Getting out and surveying the late storm damage to plan what needs to be done is also on going and working with our landowners has been awesome. They appre ciate the communication and photos of what needs to be done to keep snowmobilers safe on the trails. We are picking away at our trails with some hearty volunteers. As is the case for every club we sure can use the help. But we will get there! In March the club voted to bring back a scholarship award and also name a Land owner of the Year. The scholarship was named in honor of longtime club board member who passed away earlier in the year, Stan ley “Pubby” Blake. The award is given to a Limington graduating senior who made a difference in the classroom and the commu nity. This year’s award went to Brandt Abbott. Brandt carried a GPA over 4.0 and volunteered numerous hours in the community. Our Landowner of the Year award was voted on and awarded to Richard and Dyanne Brewster. We worked very hard and met with him to address his concerns and came up with a plan together that allowed us continued use of his land. Finally our board positions are: Mark Whitman - President Robert Axelsen - Vice President Chris Blake - Treasure Rachael Delcourt - Secretary Devan Rodrigue - Trail Master Thank you and happy fall to all and think snow!
