MECHANIC FALLS EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Emergency Management/Safety

EMA Town Report Letter 2023

Emergency Management for the Town of Mechanic Falls has been on the quiet side this year which is good for the citizens of the town. This winter was mild compared to past ones with no real bad storms; last summer and this spring didn’t give us any heavy flooding. Weather can change in an instant as most can see by watching the national news, so we always need to keep our guard up and emergency kits ready an up-to-date. We have been working with State and Federal officials on training and emergency plans for the town and county. We have also been looking for available grants to help us out. This year the F.D. received a grant to replace the 2-way radios in the fire trucks which was helpful and much needed as the ones we had were 20 years old. Reminder to be vigilant and aware of what’s happening around you so you can react as needed and if you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Check out the Maine Emergency Management Agency at https://www.maine.gov/mema/ for some very good information to help keep you and your family safe in the event of an emergency. They provide a “Tip of the day” which covers anything from how to be prepared in the event of an oncoming storm or weather event to how NOT to be scammed by criminals. Planning ahead, being prepared and good communication is the key to staying safe. See https://www.maine.gov/mema/todays-tip for the Tip of the Day and start your plan today. Take care, be safe and remember if you see something , say something . Report it.
