Mechanic Falls Fire/Rescue Town Report 2022-2023

Hi all from Mechanic Falls Fire and Rescue! We hope you all enjoyed the mild winter, hopefully we saved on our heating costs, though winter sports enthusiasts may not feel the same. It’s hard to believe that it is time for us to return to the polls to keep the town running. The last couple of years may have been tough, but the Town of Mechanic Falls has come through it on the good side with all citizens helping each other out when needed and with a smile or laugh. The department is doing ok; we have a good mix of young and older firefighters. With their enthusiasm the younger ones keep us older ones going. The budget as usual reflects what it takes to maintain our proper response when an emergency calls us out to help here and in surrounding towns. Rescue is still working hard to respond along with keeping up with all the required training needed to keep their required certifications. Just a reminder, Poland covers rescue calls from 6AM to 6PM, then United Ambulance takes over from 6PM to 6AM. They both cover a wide area, so sometimes responses can seem longer but they do their best to reach you as soon as possible. The association is here to help support the department, its firefighters and the town. They helped to organize a Touch-a-truck event last year and invited surrounding communities to participate; the turnout was great. We held a couple of other fundraisers last years with their support. Community Days will back this year and should see the association at it selling tasty sausages and fries, we hope to see you all there! Hopefully you will support the Fire and Rescue like in the past and the other town departments which without their help and cooperation we couldn’t get the job done; thanks again for supporting us!
