O n my recent trip to Aroostook County, I had the chance to “stop by” two new businesses that opened this year for snowmobilers. First up was the Evergreen Lanes featuring Ren dezvous Restaurant in Caribou. Walking inside was eye opening. A beautiful fireplace is “center stage” with dining tables surrounding it. Off to one side was a massive 10 pin bowling lane with pictures of local “things” such as aTrail Groomer, Potato Barn, Tractors, Amish

the pizza oven and the man who knows how to run it to Evergreen Lanes. We all ordered the pizza and it didn’t dis appoint. Great place, with great atmo sphere, service and food. Evergreen Lanes is located at 60 Access Hwy, Cari bou, ME and can be accessed by taking the “InTownTrail” from AK-23 (ITS 83 & 90 intersection) and following it toward Bennett Drive. Watch for the signs (it is located parallel to the Crown Park Inn).

With all that being said, it is also kind of a country store, with “penny candy”, beverages and a few staple groceries as well. The own

er(s) made us feel right at home. Misty Meadows has been open for 13 years but this year decided to stay open for the winter and I know any snowmobiler who visits will plan to go back. Their address is 1164 Main St., Grand Isle, ME and can be accessed off Cold Mtn. SC local trail 81C which spurs off ITS 81. Watch for their signs and follow them to Misty Meadows.

N ext up was Misty Meadows Organic Farm. What looks like a farm is something totally different when you walk in “the barn”. Aroostook County homemade food and gifts are their spe cialty. A homey feel as you sit down sur rounded by homemade gifts “town line
