(Continued from Page 13) service, definitely check out Katahdin Lodge. I promise, you will not be disappointed. Lastly, I need to point out that the Saco Pathfinders Snowmobile Club recently cele brated it’s 50th anniversary. We were founded in 1972. Our long-time Vice President, Scott Cyr, was just a kid helping his dad get the club going, and was instrumental in developing our current network of trails. It gets tougher every year to keep our trails as land gets sold to developers, but we’re hoping to be around for a while longer. Cheers Doug Doherty, President ALNA sc Alna, ME Hello all fellow riders and readers, Snow where are you!? We can’t even get ice here along the mid-coast, every time we get a good cold stretch Mother Nature sends us a warm rain storm. Will this be the Winter that Was Not! Our monthly meeting was well attended with 14 folks plus baby Ellis, our youngest member. Everyone enjoyed a great buffet of pot luck goodies. The crew have been out clearing trees from our recent rain and wind storms, lots of work to keep the trails open, more signage was also put up. Good job to all that helped. Happy to report the trail to Alna Store will be open this year (pending enough snow) The trail by Albee Farm has been moved from along Rt 218. It now goes into the big field and out by the Alna Ceme tery. I understand the store is all new with new owners so lets help support them. Thanks to Tim for grinding a large stump and to Jeff for the new trail. Our Secretary Sonya is recovering from Heart Surgery at home, we all hope for a speedy recovery. Plans are underway for our April end of the Season party. Plan on bringing your dancing shoes! More to come on this! Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at the fire house end all meetings are pot luck. See you there!

TRI-TOWN PENQUINS sc Durham, Pownal, Freeport, ME

Hello Everyone! As I write this it is finally snowing out although they forecast more rain to follow in southern Maine. Like most clubs, we have been cleaning up trails from downed trees and branches left from the last windstorm. I few of us just completed cutting up a large tree down across the Freeport trail just after the RT. 136 cross ing. Trees were also cleaned up near the Bells field bridge along Rt. 136 heading to Auburn, affectionately known as Kendra’s tree. A few weeks ago the bridge crossing a section of Runaround Pond was repaired along with bridges at Snow Road and the Brown Dog Inn. Signage has been completed for the most part. The club was awarded a grant by the state to build a bridge over Chandler Brook. Unfor tunately, an estimate was recently received which puts the cost much higher than the grant amount. The club is exploring ways to reduce the cost to make the project viable. The groomer shed located near the North Freeport Store has collapsed and the club is considering alternatives for replacement along with adding two other shelters located along the trail sys tem for other grooming equipment. A pot luck dinner was held prior to the club meeting in December and was very well attended. The local game warden was also present at that meeting to discuss landowner rights and the warden’s service role as it per tains to snowmobiling. We are always looking to welcome new members of all ages to the club. Club meet ings are held at the Acacia Lodge on Rt. 136 in Durham, not far from the Get N Go, typically on the first Thursday of the month at 6 PM. Please join us! Our Facebook group page can be found at Tri-Town Penguins Snowmobile Club please check the page for the latest club news, trail reports and updates, there is a link on the page to join the club online, we wel come all to join! The snow is coming, time to ready the sleds and get excited! Richard Nadeau, Member
