MSA Club News
You do not need to be a member to enjoy the Trail blazer maintained trails, or to do a SNOW Dance, but it sure helps! Please con sider joining. The club meets monthly, 2 nd Wednesday of each month at the Chuck Wagon restaurant – All are welcome, come and enjoy a great meal and camaraderie with like minded snowmobil ing enthusiasts.
Check in with Trail Master Les for any planned club trail work. He will know current trail conditions and if there is an emergency out on our trail system that he may want you to handle. I’m writing this in mid January and so far the winter snow fall is similar to last winter. We get a little snow storm followed by warm temperatures and rain. Although it was warm at times, last year we never lost our base. So far this year we have always had a snow/ice base. We are due 2” of the white stuff this Thursday with more during next week. Hope fully January will close with a snow storm or two and February will bring several feet of the white stuff. Now a day’s, my type of snowmobiling is checking on camps. I could ride on a base with a few inches of snow on top, all winter long. I feel happy at 25 MPH. What I feel bad for is the snowmobilers that travel from neighboring towns, further away, or long dis tance snowmobilers. These people cover lot’s of miles at a good rate of speed. Right now we do not have the trail conditions for these people. Hopefully by March we will and all of Maine’s stores, restaurants and lodges will be full of happy snowmobilers of all types. Congratulations to all raffle winners and Thank You to all that participated. PINE TREE STORE: Hours 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, 796-5027. NON-Ethanol Gas. Always remember, for food, supplies and fun, “You can’t go wrong at The Pine Tree Store”. HELP NEEDED: Call 796-5027, Les, Brinda, or store worker. TRAIL PROBLEM: Call 796-5027, Les. He will solve or assign the problem. LODGING: Call 796-5027, Les, Brinda, or store worker. Please ride our trails and make our friendly little town a stop on your snowmobile adven tures. I guarantee you will come back. mikere millard@mgemaine.com PENOBSCOT sc Hermon, ME And just like that, winters back! The season always seems so short, and this year has been especially tough to get started, but a couple recent storms have gotten some of us out riding, and with a couple more storms on the horizon (at the time of writing this) a lot more will be joining! Like many clubs, The Penobscot snowmo bile club is excited to finally get the groomer out, while it’s great to finally do what the clubs do best, tis the season of late night repairs and tired mornings at work for some club mem bers as they do their best to maintain the trails and equipment. Those donation jars you see at gas stations and various local stores mean something, don’t be afraid to help out to keep us all smil ing on the trails. More than ever, we are very excited to be a part of the Pine Tree Camps annual egg ride, this year is the 50 th year and everyone involved has been going above and beyond to make it a memorable event. the club will be hosting a radar run at our clubhouse on February 5th, as well as be a part of the poker run on Satur day the 4th, with some recent upgrades to our clubhouse (including a BIG tv!) we’re very excited to host snowmobilers & spectators and help the Pine Tree Camps, it’s always great to see people enjoying this sport we love, espe cially when it’s supporting such a great cause. As always, ride safe, ride right & be kind!

Please join other clubs if you ride in their area or make donations to clubs. Please regis ter your snowmobiles as the local club in that municipality gets a small portion of each reg istration in Maine. Keep doing your snow dance! See you at the club or on the trails! Troy G Trail Grunt Hello fellow snowmobilers. Here we are again sitting at the kitchen table, watching out the window at the snow falling from the heav ens. Looks like this storm will be all snow (no rain) and should be well over a foot (we actu ally got close to 18 inches Monday into Tues day. Thus will give us the start of a good base after a day or two to settle. Now if we could just get some consistent cold weather to make ice, and then some additional snow, we really would be in business. But wait -just checked the forecast and the weather people are saying MORE snow on Wednesday P.M. into Thurs day with a little bit of mixed precipitation fol lowed by more SNOW on SUNDAY.I guess that I had better get the snow blower fired -up again (this one eats auger belts like M & M’s). We should be able to open up and groom most of our trails after this weekend. Please use caution as this is an unusually warmer winter and the bodies of water are still NOT frozen over. With that being said -PUSHAW LAKE is NOT safe for snowmobile traffic, yet. - LANCASTER BROOK -please use extreme caution at the one crossing (don’t travel up and down this waterway) and the other is the KENDUSKEAG STEAM. Our trail system crosses this in three places, again not recommended to try to cross at this time (JANUARY 25th, By 2023). But by the time that you are reading this (mid-FEBRUARY?), ice conditions will have no doubt changed. Again, common sense and previous experi ences should always be at the forefront of a SAFE and enjoyable snowmobile experience. Just a couple of notes to wrap this up for today; congratulations to new member grand parents POLLY and JEFF G. - they are cer tainly enjoying their grandson (see you on the trails). Congratulations to the GLENBURN LAKESIDE RIDERS SNOWMOBILE CLUB for finishing 1ST PLACE in the EASTERN REGION / MSA SUPER RAFFLE TICKET SALES (we received a nice plaque) at the DIRECTOR ‘S MEETING in SOUTH PARIS on JANUARY 17th. We will try to get a pic ture of the award with as many members as GLENBURN LAKESIDE RIDERS sc Glenburn , ME

Not much to report. Any snow we get is followed by rain. All the wet holes are full. Thanks to members and nonmembers most of the trails have been cleared of blowdowns and branches. Several bridges have been moved by high water but should be fixed shortly. A big thank you to everyone that came out. Our Poker Rally and Raffle is scheduled for February 20th providing we have suffi cient snow. There will be food, raffles and of course money prizes for the 3 best hands. We have one more meeting before the rally date and a decision will be made at that time. I know the riding is non-existence for most of us but try to join a club anyway. With gas and diesel fuel through the roof it will help over the cost. Those that can ride be safe. Think snow and keep up the snow dancing. Hello everyone. We got some snow by now. We had a great December meeting with 10 members present. Excited to see some new faces there. We were able to put in a new bridge on a trail reroute. We’ve done some trail clearing where we could despite the poor snow conditions. Hoping Old man winter will show up so we can really get after it. Thank you. Above are John and Mary on a trail break during one of our run’s last year. Les has ordered the proper wiring harness for the new sled so it will accept the clubs new drag. Until then the new drag will be hooked up to the old new sled.
