LifeFlight of Maine
As we wind down from another season and get geared up for the next, I wanted to share a letter with all our snow riding friends and the clubs that support them. It amazes me that we have been working together for over ten years now, expanding our partnership and LifeFlight’s reach to include 112 landing zones on the snowmobile trail net work. Through our work with other entities in the off-high way world, we have now cataloged approximately 2,500 landing zones or reference points, including over 1,700 offshore islands. As we reach this milestone, it also becomes evident that communication between us has waned. I’m reaching out with this letter to re-establish those lines of contact. I real ize that some clubs may have closed, club leaders have changed, and the knowledge that at one point your club may have provided an LZ for us may be lost.
An example of why this is important: A year ago while checking an LZ in the database, I observed that the coordi nates were in the middle of a house in a new subdivision. When the LZ was established, there weren’t any houses in the area. It is incredible how quickly things change… Below, I have included a list of the clubs we have worked with since 2009. Please review the list of clubs and contact me at jroebuck@northernlight.org to update the club sta tus, contact information, and locations of landing zones. If you don’t see your club’s name on the list and know that you have a landing zone on your trails, please contact me so I can update/add to the record. If your club would be interested in providing a new landing zone, we can do that as well. We still offer landing zone training courses.

I want to thank you all for your participation in LifeFlight’s Remote Access Project. Your efforts are appreciated more than you can know. I can say that some of the landing zones have been used over the past 13 years, and this has allowed us to do our jobs more efficiently, give bet ter service, and get the care to patients when they need it most. We appreciate the work involved in maintaining
something we hope never to use, but are ever so grateful when we do.
Very Respectfully, Jon “JR” Roebuck Landing Zone & Remote Access Coordinator LifeFlight of Maine
