Upcoming services and series: Did you know? Pentecost (June 5th!) marks the end of the Easter Season. It has its roots in the Jewish celebration of the wheat harvest (Shavuot). The Book of Acts recounts how the early followers of Jesus received the gift of the Holy Spirit, which enabled them to speak in the languages of all the Jewish peoples who had gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the Festival of Shavuot. In the Christian year, Pentecost launches the church into “Ordinary Time” (the final season of the year). The purpose of this season is to support new disciples and the whole congregation in living out the gifts and callings discerned during the Easter Season and commissioned on the Day of Pentecost. Sunay, June 12 th – Following worship, our Church Council meeting begins at noon. Zoom link can be found at our website, or meet in-person at the Parish House. All are welcome! SAVE THE DATE! The Food Pantry has easy meal bags for those who are quarantining from COVID or who are awaiting the results of a PCR. When figuring out how to isolate, let us help you take one decision off your plate – and fill that plate with food! Contact chebundance@gmail.com or Denise Hamilton for info. Sacred Ground – Conversations about Race The Sacred Ground program uses discussion groups (6-9 participants and two trained facilitators) that meet for 90 minutes every three weeks over the course of ten sessions. During this time they watch and discuss films exploring the history and impact of race and racism in American society. This past winter, St. Paul’s launched six groups, including nearly 50 participants from different backgrounds. These groups have been so well-received that they are opening up additional groups this summer and fall. St. Paul’s is seeking participants from across the area and hope you will join in!
