we were able to “just sneak by”. This was another perfect example of the cooperation between the Water Department and the Highway Departments. While we have our own back hoe, the new excavator the Highway has, has proved a great benefit to the town. Especially on projects like this. The cooperation between the Water Department, Highway Department, and the Sanitary District is truly “small town magic”! We were pumping an extra amount of water this spring. We were concerned that we had a leak in the system. After reading meters we determined that we were selling it. Between pools, car washing, and gardens our pumping was up. The good news is this is all revenue for us. We have some tank trucks that purchase from us also. During this year’s paving project, we were able to get our yard paved. This is something we have been wanting to accomplish for a few years now. We secured a grant from Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to have a generator installed at the pumping station. This is a fifty, fifty grant. Generators like everything else are hard to come by. We don’t expect to see this until the summer of 2022. Every three years the Maine Drinking Water program reviews us with what they call a “sanitary survey”. They review our record keeping and our facilities. I’m happy to report they only found two minor discrepancies. These were fixed in short order. We are preparing for some of the federal funding that might come out of Washington. Our original watermain that runs through the fields off Libby Road needs to be replaced. We will have plans in place drawn up by a professional engineer so that we will be “shovel ready”.

Respectfully, Steve French
