PUBLIC WORKS
This last year has been one that most people would like forget with all the restrictions and mask mandates that took place. The Public Works Dept was classified as a necessary dept. so we were able to keep working through the shutdown. To say that this last year was different is an understatement but we have made it through it so far. Things can only get better.
There were plans to do some paving last year but all that was put to a stop when COVID-19 hit so paving will happen this coming year in certain areas. Our roads are in bad shape in a lot of places and we hope to start doing a couple roads a year instead of every five years because we are falling behind. The last few years winters have not been big snowmakers, last year only getting around 60 inches and this year looking like even less will fall. We keep ourselves busy working on equipment and working on things in our building, there is always something that needs repair, our building is over fifty years old and it shows. Even with COVID-19 being around work went on and things got done as they always do, Sweeping, painting, ditching, and changed a bunch of culverts around town. We also did a bunch of work down on the back of the Babe Ruth field after all the trees were taken out. The Water Dept. put in a new line on Second Ave. last summer and we worked with them on that project for about a week. Its great working together on these projects and it saves the town money sharing our equipment.
We try our best to take care of things around town throughout the year and as always if you have something that needs attention, please let us know and we will see if we can help. I have great bunch of guys that love this town and enjoy taking care of it. As always thank you all for your continued support, it is greatly appreciated.
