42 Island Residents received their first COVID-19 vaccines on February 17 th at the Rec Center. A huge thank you to the CART Covid vaccine subcommittee for all their hard work in coordinating this successful clinic. It was heartening to see many of our frailer island residents, for whom a trip to the mainland for a vaccine would not have been possible, happily seeing folks they had not seen for many months - while getting their first jab! Well done all! Congratulations to Josh Doughty!!! Josh has been chosen “2021 Year of the Nurse Award Recipient“ from Northeastern University. Josh is getting ready to graduate from the Northeastern University’s School of Nursing. As part of the University’s Co- Op Program, he chose to compete a co-op working with COVID patients in the ICU at Maine Medical Center. In receiving this honor, the University stated “You have attested to the way in which you have gone above and beyond in your service to the School of Nursing and the nursing profession during 2020 with its unprecedented challenges”.
