Community Matters
The Chebeague Island Community Center has recently updated its guidelines for opening during a prolonged (more than 6 hours), widespread power outage to reflect restrictions imposed by the current pandemic. The revised rules are as follows: The Community Center will be open for persons to get warm, charge their laptops andcell phones, obtain water, access the Internet, and use the toilet. The kitchen is off limits except to obtain water from the sink. In accordance with state rules regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, all persons using theCommunity Center must sign in and provide contact information. All persons must wear a mask at all times while in the building. All persons must observe social-distancing rules and any other state-imposed restrictions. These rules apply solely to prolonged power outages on the island. In the event of a natural disaster, the Community Center would be guided and governed by MEMA, FEMA, and the Red Cross. The Chebeague Island Hall, Council, and Library wish you a safe and healthy holiday season! The family of Scott “Big Bear” McCollom is thanking our island family for all the cards, kind words on the loss of the kind, gentle soul of our son, brother, uncle, nephew. He is greatly missed every day.
