Brookfield Hydro Invites Safety Chair to Meeting By Alan Swett

I recently was invited to a safety meeting with Brookfield Hydro. First off, this is one big company! They have hydro proj- ects and hydroelectric dams all over the world. They’re in more than 30 countries and have over 5,300 facilities. Amazing! This company controls most all of the river flow in Maine. The meeting with these folks was a good one I never meant any of them except for a phone call and they made us feel at home with kindness and sense of humor. They want the same thing as we do. Safety Thank you to A.E. Robinson for being our very first “Blizzard” level sponsor. Brooks Equipment and Royal River Boat Yard also gave us our first “Storm” level sponsorships. Thank you again to all our sponsors as you made our event a success. This year, even with Covid 19, this was the most successful golf scramble MSA has ever had. As most of you know, we were not able to have our Maine Snow-

on snowmobiles. I think we will have a great future with them. They will help us with getting the message out on ice safety on lakes and other bodies of water. We will be developing new signage and warning signs so folks can be cau- tious on ice travel. Although, we would like snowmobilers to stay on the trail some will venture out on the ice. Our meeting in Green- ville was a successful one and I am eager to get on to the next one! I’ll keep you posted. Ride Right Ride Safe! Al mobile Show in October. This is/ was a huge income loss to MSA, which makes MSA very lucky to have had such a successful golf scramble. While it doesn’t replace income from the show, it defi- nitely helps keep us moving for- ward to next year when hopefully, we can get back to “normal”. We are already planning for the 5 th Annual MSA Golf Scramble, with more prizes, teams and fun. See ya on the Course!

The 4 th Annual MSA Golf Scramble

G olfers from all over Maine participated in the 4thAnnual MSAGolf Scramble on June 20th, 2020. 18 teams took on the links in two divisions making it the big- gest scramble to date. The Open Class was won by the Downeast Bogies (from Cherryfield area) and the Club Cup Class was won for the second time by the PVSC (Piscataquis Valley SC) team. Everybody enjoyed a beautiful day on the course. Mike Grass

Sr. cooked up burgers and dogs for everyone but water and cold drinks were the order of the day with temps pushing 90 degrees. Brian, Dave and Olivia from Palmyra Golf Course made sure we had a great course to play and catered to any need that came up. A large group of MSA volunteers, Al, Matt, Mark, Lori, Susan, Maci, Dave H, Dave W, John, Larry and Eileen took care of the business end all day while the golfers made

their rounds. A huge thank you to all our sponsors who made the event possible. A special thank you to Chase Toys of Unity, who not only sponsored the golf balls, but stepped up to sponsor the hole in one prize, which was a 2020 Ski- doo Freeride. No one was lucky enough to win it, but a lot of golf- ers tried their hardest on that hole. This year also featured some larger sponsors coming on board.
