Saying Thanks to a Fabulous Volunteer

After 20-plus years volunteering as our Nurse Consultant, Ester Knight has decided it’s time to pass the baton. One of the original founders of the Commons in the 1990s, Ester has served as nurse consultant and activities volunteer ever since. We can’t begin to thank her enough for what she’s brought to Island Commons, our residents and staff. All the best, Ester , we will miss your weekly presence!

** We’re delighted to welcome Bill Overlock as our newest resident. Bill joins us from Long Island.

** COVID-19 slowed us down but couldn’t stop our progress. We’re up and running with our high-speed internet and all new IT equipment. Thanks to those who made this possible: Recompense Fund and the Raymond Family Foundation (grants for the IT upgrade), Island Institute and Maine Community Foundation (grants for the fiber line and broadband connection), Meg Greene for introducing us to the terrific team at Systems Engineering and last but not least: Ken Pelton, Chip Corson and Bev Johnson for getting us wired and connected! ** COVID-19 UPDATE: Island Commons residents are now permitted up to two visitors. Arrangements must be made in advance…No drop-ins. Visits allowed Monday-Thursday at specific times and will be conducted according to CDC and state guidelines (too numerous to list here).
