A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR RESCUE SERVICES On June 23, Nick Wessell, our two four-month-old puppies (now five months) and I arrived on Chebeague Island after driving up from Saint Simons Island, Georgia. We had started to unpack the car when I got caught up in the puppies’ leashes and promptly fell, crashing my head against the kitchen door jam. Nick, who could see the gash and blood, convinced me to call Chebeague’s EMTS to have a look at it. Perhaps I thought some Steri- strips and all would be fine. The Rescue team arrived almost instantly. After examination, and a lot of discussion, they convinced me that I had to go to the ER. However, we had barged our car over. Neither Nick nor I were allowed on the Independence as we had just started our two- week quarantine. What to do? With great aplomb the Rescue Service transferred me to a gurney, gently secured me in the ambulance and delivered me onto the Independence. A little while later I found myself in the ER at Mercy Hospital. Although the day is a blur and I don’t remember the names of anyone who helped me, I’d like to thank each and every one of them. Turns out I needed stitches after all. Thank you all and Blessed be Gwendolyn Stevens
