Office Hours— We are open Monday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As always, if you need assistance at other times, please don’t hesitate to call (846-3148) and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Nomination Papers Available— Nominating papers will be available at the Town Office beginning March 2.We will have four vacancies: David Hill and Mark Dyer on the Board of Selectmen and Jen Belesca and Jeff Putnam on the School Board have terms that end June 30, 2018. So, if you’ve thought about ways to give back to your community, here’s an opportunity.
call Marjorie if you have any questions. New from Bureau of Motor Vehicles— For processing registrations, the registrant must now complete all information on the back of the registration. The current odometer reading of the vehicle must be reported as accurately as possible (no estimates or tenths of a mile) on the back of the white copy of the registration. Incorrect or estimated odometer readings may cause odometer discrepancies. Please plan to bring an accurate mileage with you. New Code Enforcement Officer— Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we searched for a new Code Enforcement Officer. Jim Butler started work the last week in February. He works four days per week for the Town of Scarborough and will be with us for one day per week. Contact information will be available soon. The email will remain the same at codeoffice@chebeague.net . Fire Permits— Fire Permits are available at the Town Office when Gloria Brown is working. You can also get a fire permit online at www.maineburnpermit.com . Transfer Station Hours— The Transfer Station is open Wednesday and Friday from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thank you for your support, and remember to be kind to one another, Marjorie E. To serve on either board, you must be at least 18 years old, a Maine resident as well as a U.S. citizen, and a registered voter (and thus a legal resident) of the town in which you serve. No particular level of education or experience is required to qualify as a municipal officer or as a school board committee member. Completed papers must be returned to the Town Clerk by Friday April 13 at 4:00 pm.
Second Half of Taxes Due March 30, 2018— The second half of your property taxes is due March 30, 2018. If you have any questions about the balance due, please call 207-846-3148. Budget Information— We continue to work on the 2018– 2019 budget. Please keep in mind that if you would like to add something to the municipal budget and ultimately to the Annual Town Meeting Warrant, you must submit your request in a timely manner. We have budget meetings scheduled for March 14 and 20. Please check the town website for location and time. Please
