Notes From The Council
Join the July 4 Parade on Chebeague Island A community celebration of independence, happiness, and island life.
It’s July, and summer is in full swing. We hope you will join this year’s July 4 parade to celebrate 250 years of the Declaration of Independence and the document’s famous statement that all people are endowed with the right to pursue happiness. Chebeague Island is the perfect place to celebrate. We certainly understand the value of independence, and throughout the year we find happiness with friends and neighbors on beaches and boats, at potlucks, and in community gatherings. Decorate a bike, float, or golf cart and join
the parade. We will muster at 11 am at the Inn and begin at 11:30. This year’s Parade Marshal is our beloved Kitty Freeman, who recently celebrated her 100 th birthday. The best places to view the parade and its acts are at the Historic Society and in front of the Community Hall. Our judges will be lined up reviewing the parade at both locations and will announce the winners before the start of the July 4th picnic at the Recreation Center, where the parade ends. Bring your enthusiasm, decorations, and island spirit, and join your neighbors in celebrating the pursuit of happiness.
