Hall of Fame Induction of Mike McCarthy, Kirk St. Peter, and Mike Ouellette for the Legendary “Ride of the Millennium”

Mike, Kirk, and Mike accomplished what many believed impossible.Their journey became known across the snowmobiling world as the “Ride of the Millennium” — an achievement that still stands as one of the most extraordinary feats ever completed on snowmobiles. But the journey represented far more than endurance and adventure. Along the way, the trio raised more than $17,000 for Pine Tree Camp for Handicapped Children and the Pine Tree Burn Foundation, while bring ing national attention to Maine snow mobiling, the Caribou Snowmobile Club, and the trail systems of Aroos took County. Their ride helped show case Northern Maine as a world-class snowmobiling destination and ele vated the profile of Maine’s snowmo bile community across the country. The ride demanded extraordinary courage, preparation, and teamwork. Through every challenge, Mike McCa rthy, Kirk St. Peter, and Mike Ouel lette relied on one another, pushing forward mile after mile across North America with determination and

grit. Their accomplishment inspired countless riders and became a defin ing moment in Maine snowmobiling history. Beyond the historic journey itself, all three men devoted countless hours to the Caribou Snowmobile Club and to strengthening snowmobiling in Aroostook County. Their volunteer ism, leadership, and passion for the sport helped build the trail systems and snowmobiling culture that con tinue to thrive today. Twenty-five years later, the “Ride of the Millennium” remains more than a remarkable adventure — it stands as a symbol of the determination, gener osity, and pioneering spirit that define Maine snowmobiling. The legacy of Mike McCarthy, Kirk St. Peter, and Mike Ouellette continues to inspire riders across the state and beyond. The Maine Snowmobile Association proudly congratulates Mike McCarthy and Kirk St. Peter, and posthumously honors Mike Ouellette, on this historic and well-deserved induction into the Maine Snowmobile Association Hall of Fame.

T he Maine Snowmobile Associ ation is proud to announce the induction of Mike McCarthy, Kirk St. Peter, and the late Mike Ouellette into the Maine Snowmobile Association Hall of Fame in recognition of one of the greatest adventures in the his tory of Maine snowmobiling — the legendary “Ride of the Millennium” from Alaska to Maine. In the year 2000, these three deter mined men from Caribou set out on a journey few would ever dare attempt: traveling nearly 6,000 miles by snow mobile from Tok, Alaska to Caribou, Maine in just 29 days. Battling brutal weather, deep snow, mechanical fail ures, exhaustion, isolation, and some of the harshest terrain imaginable,
