Winter Wonderland Warriors for Your Favorite Trails! Can you feel it? That crisp, cold whisper in the air? Are you already dreaming of those flat, fast trails, carving through Maine’s magnificent wilderness? The scent of pine nee dles, maybe a hint of two-stroke in the wind, a smile plastered on your face as you cruise But wait! Before you totally vanish into that snow-dusted reverie, we’ve got a little something special for you. It’s called The Great Snowmobile Volunteer Pledge! A sol emn (but super fun!) promise to dedicate just a fraction of the time you spend behind the handlebars and give a little love back to the sport we all adore. Those pristine, freshly groomed “white ribbons” don’t just magically appear, folks. Behind every perfect corner, every smooth straightaway, and every well-marked inter section is a dedicated crew of unsung heroes, often fueled by lukewarm coffee and Think back-breaking work isn’t your jam? Hauling logs, clearing brush, mending bridges, or wrestling trail signs into place might not be your idea of a good time (though it’s incredibly satisfying!). No problem! Because for every mile of trail needing physical elbow grease, there are countless hours of administrative wizardry required to keep things running: • Fundraising Fanatics: To keep the groomers running and the bridges sturdy. • Membership Mavens: Welcoming new riders and keeping the community strong. • Grant Gurus: Unlocking funds for vital equipment and improvements. • Social Media Sensations: Spreading the word, sharing photos, and getting every one psyched! • Event Planners Extraordinaire: Organizing poker runs, club dinners, and safety clinics. • Admin Aces: Keeping the books straight, permits filed, and paperwork pristine. The bottom line? There is so much to do to prepare for the season, maintain the trails all winter, and wrap things up in the spring – and just not enough volunteers to do it! Take the Pledge! Your Trails Are Waiting! So, how do you take this magnificent pledge? It’s easier than trying to start a cold sled on a sub-zero morning! 1. Simply reach out to your local snowmobile club, or the club in your absolute favorite riding area. 2. Ask them: “How can I help get these trails ready for prime time?” 3. Offer your skills, your time, a few hours, a weekend – whatever you can spare! Imagine the satisfaction on that first snowy day, effortlessly gliding over a trail you helped prepare. That first ride of the season will feel even sweeter, knowing you con tributed to the magic. You’re not just a rider; you’re a steward, a builder, a vital part of the snowmobiling community. Take the pledge. Give back to our sport. Your future self (and every other rider!) will thank you! Let’s make this winter the best one yet, together! pure passion.
