MUNICIPAL TOWN BUDGET WARRANT MUNICIPAL ELECTION TOWN OF MECHANIC FALLS
June 10, 2025
To: Michelle Emery, a resident of the Town of Mechanic Falls, in the County of Androscoggin, State of Maine,
Greeting:
In the name of the State of Maine, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Mechanic Falls in said county and state, qualified by law to vote in town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall in said Town on Tuesday, the 10 th day of June, 2025 A.D., at seven forty-five o’clock in the morning until eight o’clock in the morning, then and there to act upon Article 1.
Article 1: To elect a moderator by written ballot to preside at said meeting.
Then, to act by secret ballot on Articles 2 through 31 as set out below, the polling hours therefore to be from eight o’clock in the morning until eight o’clock in the evening, said articles being the following:
Article 2: Shall the Town fix the date the first half of FY 2025-26 annual taxes to be due and collectible on or before October 15, 2025, and the second half of taxes to be due on or before May 15, 2026, pursuant to 36 M.R.S.A., Section 505(2)?
Article 3: Shall the Town set a rate of 7.5% interest to be charged on taxes unpaid after approved due dates, pursuant to 36 M.R.S.A., Section 505(4)?
Article 4: Shall the Town set the interest rate to be paid by the Town on collected then abated taxes at a rate that is 4% less than the rate charged for unpaid taxes for FY 2025-2026, pursuant to 36 M.R.S.A., Section 506(A)?
Article 5: Shall the Town authorize the Tax Collector or Treasurer to accept prepayments of taxes not yet committed, and pay no interest thereon, pursuant to 36 M.R.S.A., Section 506?
Article 6: Shall the Town authorize the Town Council to approve any necessary abatement amounts from Overlay and to accept any Supplemental taxes owed for FY 2025-2026?
Article 7: Shall the Town apply $811,945 of anticipated general revenues (excluding Homestead and BETE Reimbursement) to the overall approved town budget for FY 2025-2026? (Council and Budget Committee Recommend “Yes”) Article 8: Shall the Town apply estimated and anticipated State Revenue amounts from Revenue Sharing $754,059 to the overall approved town budget for FY 2025-2026? (Council and Budget Committee Recommend “Yes”) Article 9: Shall the Town the sum of $150,813* from a certain reserve account to offset the impact of the FY’ 26 RSU#16 assessment for Mechanic Falls? (Council and Budget Committee Recommend “Yes”)
