SANTA FOR KIDS PROGRAM
The Santa Program has been assisting Mechanic Falls families in need for 33 years. This program is funded completely on donations from local businesses and citizens. This year we were able to assist 12 families (25 kids) with Christmas presents. We used a Facebook group page to post children’s wants and needs. Community members purchased the items and delivered them to the town office. This was a fantastic way to get the community involved and was a huge success. The Senior Giftbag program this year continued to grow. We had 42 Seniors receive a giftbag. Hannaford was extremely generous and supplied nearly all of the food in the bags. This year I was able to go out and make some deliveries for the first time. The smiles on their faces were very heartwarming. They were all very appreciative of the items but mostly grateful to be remembered. The Vineyard Church was a huge donor this year! They took on 5 of our families (13 kids). The members of their congregation supplied the kids’ wants and needs. Not only did this save the program funding, but it allowed me time to concentrate on the 12 remaining kids and senior citizens. There is a lot of time and organization that goes into running this program and their help was greatly appreciated. In addition to the Vineyard Church and its members, I would like to thank the following people for their donations this year: American Legion Post #150 SAL, Terri Arsenault, Michael Baird, Walter & Rena Berry, Janice Biardi, Bryant Energy, Tanya Cadman, Chandler Funeral Homes, Cindy Charloff, Shelly Comeau, Cindy Cormier, Norma Crabtree, Day Motors, Patti Dyer, Earle’s Heating Oil, Penny & Bud Emery, Freeze Kompany, Hannaford, Vic Hodgkins, Renee Irish, Cheryl Kelly, Nick Konstantoulakis, Crystal Lancaster, Winnie McMorrow, Mechanic Falls Fire Association, Minot Corner United Methodist Church, Lori Plummer, Jackie Preston, Linda Purington, Laura Roy, Betty Siegel, Amanda Stoddard, Paula Stotts, Carrie White, Sherry Wilbur and to the many people who dropped off items at the town office. THANK YOU!!! And to the Hannaford employees who assisted with presents for two kiddo’s – Thank you! 27 of the 42 Senior Gift Bags
