Hollis Community Day Committee Annual Report: July 2023 – June 2024 August 12th, 2023 | Hollis Sports Complex

The 2023 Hollis Community Day was a celebration of unity, fun, and local pride. Organized by the Hollis Community Day Committee, this year’s event centered around the theme of Community Togetherness . While the theme may evolve in future years, the event itself will remain an annual tradition aimed at bringing residents and surrounding communities together in a joyful and welcoming setting. Maine State Representative Justin Chenette once again graciously served as Master of Ceremonies and brought great energy and enthusiasm to the day. Festivities began with a lively parade down Lower Tarbox Road, proudly led by the Hollis Fire Department. We encourage greater participation in next year’s parade and hope to see more groups involved. This event would not have been possible without the generous support of numerous national and local sponsors, along with the dedicated efforts of our hardworking committee, who spent the entire year planning and coordinating every detail. Local organizations and community groups were well-represented, offering information, resources, and support to attendees. In addition, several local vendors were on site, showcasing their goods and services. Highlights of the day included Party Palooga’s popular balloon artistry, which drew long lines of excited families eager to see the creative designs. Children enjoyed a wide selection of inflatable attractions throughout the event. The Hollis Parks & Recreation Department hosted a series of mentally and physically challenging games that were enjoyed by both kids and adults alike. Additional attractions such as face painting, temporary tattoos, and a mobile gaming truck added to the fun. Local craft vendors were also present, offering a variety of handmade goods and unique items that contributed to the festive atmosphere. Musical entertainment was provided throughout the day by several bands, most of which were from our town or surrounding areas. The Buxton/Hollis Rod & Gun Club played a vital role by donating chairs and tables for the event’s main tent and delighting guests with fresh cotton candy throughout the day. The celebration concluded with a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the night sky, serving as a perfect ending to a memorable day. Hollis Community Day continues to be a cherished opportunity to gather, connect, and celebrate all that makes our town special. We are always seeking new ways to enhance this event and welcome suggestions and volunteers interested in contributing. Proceeds from this year’s event supported the Hollis Parks & Recreation Summer Recreation Scholarship Fund and served as seed funding for next year’s celebration. We thank everyone who participated and contributed to making this event a success—and we look forward to seeing you next year
