NORTHEAST CARRY sc Northeast Carry, ME Follow us on Facebook and Instagram Even though we don’t like to see our snow mobile season end, it’s soon time to come to that reality. We would like to thank our patrons for making this season a success. We would also like to thank our landowners because we all know how important a good relationship is. Without their cooperation, our snowmobile world would not exist. Our deer herd keeps increasing from late December. We currently have in excess of 75 deer coming regularly. A true joy to observe! Check us out during the other seasons of the year! Until next year, be safe. Deer Ole Me SHIRLEY BOG TRAIL BUSTERS Shirley, ME https://sites.google.com/site/shirleybogtrailbusters/ email: shirleybogtrailbusters@gmail.com fb: Shirley bog trailbusters Since I can’t talk about how great the early February sledding was (it wasn’t), I’d like to tell you about the importance of “trail angels” and good trail signage. In early February, 4 of us decided to do a sled trip north-east of our Shirley area to hit some decent trails for a few days. Trail condi tions were much better after we left Kokadjo and we had 2 great days of sledding. However, on our return trip we ran into travel problems due to the weather and poor intersection sig nage. We were fortunate to be near a great place for a late lunch and gas stop (Wild woods) and got new directions to go on our way back to Greenville/Shirley. Again, we ran into signage problems and darkness was falling quickly, as were the temperatures. I should note that we also traveled in a snow storm the entire day with periods of freezing rain and there was minimal trail traffic. We came upon five sledders who knew the area and stopped to help us-they were great “trail angels”. They got us back to Wildwoods where we had left after lunch. The “angels” even offered a place to stay at their camp if no cabins were available at Wildwoods since traveling back to Shirley after dark in bad weather would not be a good idea. The owner of Wildwoods graciously opened a cabin for us to spend the night and we were able to leave in the morning with freshly groomed trails and 8” of new snow. So, my point is that signage makes a BIG difference, especially to sledders not familiar with local trails in an area. And “trail angels,” whether it be on the trail or at a service area make a huge difference in turning a dismal experience into one that has a happy ending. Please re-look at your own club’s local trails with new eyes. Pretend that you are not from the area. Then add information that would help non-locals. And take note that signs with information written in sharpies or markers are not easily read in poor conditions, nor do they hold up over the season with the weather. We hope that later February into March will have some good sledding from additional snowfall.

For the first time in we’re guessing at least 4 years we were able to get the Mogul Mas ter drags out and groom trails properly north and south of the club. There was enough snow in the woods and fields to open all club and municipal trails 100%! More wow! For the first time in 10 years (possibly more) our club house was open for the weekends serving hot food, coffee ,tea, etc. to our club members and visitors via our park and ride. Our club was able to help out neighboring clubs by grooming in and out of their events in Orrington and Bald Mountain. I wish to send out huge thanks to a small but growing and dedicated group of volunteers. Club members, board members, trail workers, and even some friends and coworkers stepped up! Huge thanks go out to Lisa and Ben Gar gan for offering to set up and run the kitchen on the weekends! It was amazing to see fam ilies stopping in, using the facility, parking in the driveway, and making donations. Troy G Trail Grunt GLENBURN LAKE SIDE RIDERS sc Glenburn, ME Welcome again fellow snowmobilers, Here we go again - finally we get the snow that we so patiently waited for. With the cold temperatures that have made the waterways safe to cross, the recent snowfalls have cer tainly made the trails the best that they have been in a few years. Many thanks to President / Trailmaster- Eddie P. and fellow club member Bradley A. - we finally have heat in the Kubota, this should make grooming the trails a lot more com fortable. Also, thanks go out to Gene B. and Tommy G. - I think that they have been living up to the signs posted; Caution - Grooming 24 Hrs .I know for a fact that the trail from his house to Rt 15 is like a white ribbon -Flat and Smooth – Thank You. We have opened up the trail that heads south onto old Ohio Street down and across the Ken duskeag Stream to complete the loop back into Glenburn. The next two meetings in March will be on the 5 th and the 19 th at the clubhouse at 2838 Ohio Street @ 7:00 P.M. area includes traversing some frozen body of water. Planning ahead in this case means leaving word on your route, never ride alone and consider what you would do if you went through the ice. It happens every year to some one and the time to prepare is before the ride. Ice picks and a good whistle that is readily available increases the odds of self-recovery significantly. There are many brands but the best ones are those in your pocket!

And just so that you know, Marion P. got her first snowmobile ride in a very long time. A few days ago, her grandson Tony L. along with fellow club member Chris C. took her along with Marion’s Great Granddaugh ter River L. from Lagrange to Wildwoods / Brownville for a lunch -she said that was quite a treat -many thanks for making her day-she really appreciated it. The March meetings for GLRSC will be on the 5 th and the 19 th at 7”00 P.M. See you there. That’s all for now... Barry E. Ryan GLRSC Club Reporter As I sit here at North Branch Camps / Eus tis, I suddenly realize that this is February 23 rd , and I have should have already taken care of this. But be that as it may, I will try to get some thoughts and news together to at least make a showing in the next to the last MSA Paper for this season. It’s really hard to believe that this is the last weekend of February 2025 – March 1st is just around the corner. With the onset of cold weather, finally the waterways have been safe enough to cross with snowmobile traffic. The few little mini-snow storms and then the heavier snowfalls have resulted in some of the best trail conditions in recent memory This has brought some much-ap preciated traffic to our little town, some of these trails have been groomed to perfection with the leadership of Trailmaster Dave P. and his trail crew. Many thanks to all. I even got a trail work day with this team back a few weeks ago - some brushing, signing and chainsaw work. The trail came out fantastic. Just goes to show you what a dedicated crew can do. Thanks for inviting me along. Just a few more subjects to address: As this abbreviated snowmobile season will be winding to a close soon, please take a moment or two to thank a landowner for allow ing us to use their land again, we really appre ciate it. The next KSRSC meeting is set for Thursday, March 13 th at Dale & Joann’s house at 7:00 P.M. And just a reminder that you should be getting your trail work and grooming paperwork to be submitted soon. Thank You. Barry E. Ryan K.S.R.S.C. PINE TREE sc Milford, ME
Hello fellow snowmobilers, The snow has continued to pile up in East ern Maine. The groomer and the sleds have been out on the trails. We even had several families come to last week’s breakfast on their snowmobiles. That is always good to see. 35 people attended our annual Chili, Chow der and Auction at the Milford Town Hall on February 15 th . We raised just under $2,800. This is less than previous years, but still a solid fundraiser for the club. A huge thank you to everyone, businesses, and individuals, who generously donated to this fundraiser. Including tomorrow’s pancake and French toast breakfast, we have 3 more breakfasts for this season. The cost for all breakfasts will be $10 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Everyone is welcome. We hope you will join us for one of our remaining breakfasts for the 24-25 snowmo bile season. The Pot of Gold balance for our March meeting will be $32.35, since we did not have a winner at the February meeting. Remember, you must be present to win! Our final potluck and general business meeting will be held on March 12th. We will also elect new officers for the club. Our President, Pat Smith, has done a wonderful job leading our club these last 4+ years. She will be missed. If you or anyone you know is interested in a leadership role at our Pine Tree Snowmobile Club, please contact Pat at (207) 478-6790 or Cathy at (207) 922-7478. We look forward to seeing you at the Club house and on the trails. THINK SNOW!!! The kids have some real snowbanks to make tunnels in and we got a refresher on how to blast through a snowbank and not get stuck. We could have done with a little less wind but the trails got some coverage. Our groom ers have been busy and I think the riding got a boost statewide. Let’s hope the weather stays cold enough to keep the snow. The riding in March can be great with more daylight and comfortable temperatures. Hi to all, The Quadcounty trail area has finally received some snow, trails have been groomed multiple times. The warm temperatures this coming week, will bring some moisture to the powder base we have. Hopefully, we don’t get a lot of rain with the warm temps.
