with Dave Silvia and Pete Plourde, reassem bled, rebuilt, and breathed life back into the machine. Rick was always quick to pick up the phone and help us work through questions we had. He trained Pete and escorted him to Al’s Alley when Pete brought the machine to Ebeemee! Imagine maneuvering that big machine through Al’s Alley for the very first time! I think Rick had more confidence in Pete than Pete did! I guess Rick will get his picture on the windshield along with Al Van Knowes. He’ll be riding with us in Sagamores Dream. Rest in peace my friend. We’ll keep you in our hearts always. Thank you for always sharing your knowledge and thoughts. Membership packets have gone out. Please get them back to us ASAP and if you have any questions, Diane’s email is on the form. Remember, if you are getting MSA raffle tick ets, we need them back by the end of Novem ber at the very latest so we can forward them to MSA headquarters for the drawing in Decem ber. Also, Ebeemee SC has not one but two photos in this year’s MSA calendar so support the MSA and order those calendars so you can check it out! If you are considering getting in on the Adopt A Trail program, please get that back to us sooner rather than later as well so we can get those signs ordered and placed on the trail before we get all that beautiful white stuff! Reach out if you have any questions and we will work through it with you. Here’s hoping we have a beautiful, snowy winter! Cool temps, good ice on all the ponds, crisp, crunchy snow and lots of Smileage! Above is a trail system sign that Trailmaster Les and Fred, from the Fred and Jane team, put up at the start of our trail system. Fred used his excavator to install the sign and build a simple rock wall around it for protection and good looks. On the opposite side, the letters are black and the background is orange. Good job. Looks nice. The Karen Sprague Bridge has some rotten timbers. Les is going to go out there and record what’s wrong and to make a material repair list as to what is needed to make the bridge safe. He will need an experienced helper and on another day, a work crew. I got a feeling hot dogs will be on the material repair list. A new club trail map is in the works. The club is going to take the old map electronic file and make it more accurate and clean up anything not related to snowmobiling. Jeremy is going to work on this job. Les has gotten word from trail riders and from his trail riding experiences that our club trails are on good shape. To keep them that way, Les would like everyone to report any thing of concern that you encounter on our trail system. You all know hopefully, that there is a heli copter emergency rescue pad near Elsmore Landing, Pocumcus Lake (see GPS info below). A second pad is near completion at Stone Dam (location info to follow). Les wants a third pad somewhere on Amazon Road. He is looking for a good location for this helicop ter emergency rescue pad. Talk to Les about this. I’m sure he would like someone to help him and Ava in the search for a location. SIGNAGE: This is a big topic with snow mobile state officials. Correct signage will give you information, direction, and safety. Les hears our signage is good from snowmo bile state officials and fellow snowmobilers. Almost everyone has stories about getting lost Grand Lake Grand Lake Stream, ME
due to bad signage or lack of signage. Les says we have to add more signs, repair damages ones, improve display and install signage that will make snowmobile travel life easier and safer. So, if you’re looking for a fun work day with friends, out in the woods, see Les. SLED WORK: Les needs you if your mechanically inclined. He has to get all sleds ready for the winter. He has to add a hitch and weights to front bumpers on some sleds. This will keep sled ski’s down on the snow sur face when we are towing heavy drags. Tow ing receiver work on some sleds is also being planned. GROOMER TRAINING: Start thinking about this. Les will train club members on our well-equipped, professional groomer, the Snow Rabbit. That way once trained, a 2-per son groomer team with food and supplies could be sent out to do important trail work for as long as they want. If you are interested, you know who to talk too. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read about our snowmobile club and our special little town. Please ride our trails and make our town your town and stop on your snowmobile adventure. I guarantee you will be back. mikeremillard@mgemaine.com Please take the time to cut out the below lines of information and pack it away with your registration and insurance info. You never know. We still have more brushing, signing and some small bridges to do. We meet at clubhouse at 8 am on Sundays, hope to see you there. Quad County SC will be serving Hunter’s Breakfast, the first three Saturdays in Novem ber. We will be serving Thanksgiving dinner, free or donation, your choice. If you don’t want to cook and do dishes, you and your family can come have a traditional Thanks giving dinner. Don’t worry about the vehicles in the clubhouse yard, as there will be plenty of food. We serve about 125-150 people. It’s a great meal and friendly people! Your slow typing reporter, Kevin Northeast Carry sc Northeast Carry, ME Telephone: 200-9417 Follow us on Facebook and Instagram The weather is now taking a nose-dive into fall and we all know winter is next. It’s been a busy fall at Northeast Carry Gen eral Store with the fall hunts: partridge, moose and now deer season. It’s soon time for Aaron & Briar to gear-up for the winter season of snowmobilers and ice fishermen. It was nice to see some familiar faces at the MSA Show at the Civic Center in Augusta. GLRSC Members selling MSA Super Raffle Tickets.
We just had our very well attended land owner appreciation supper. It is a small token of appreciation for the great contributions that these people give to our club. Without these landowners there literally would be no trails. Trailmaster Larry puts down the chainsaw long enough to put on his apron and cook a wonderful roast pork dinner with all the sides. Many of our club members made homemade pies to compliment the meal. Many more stayed late to clean up afterwards and others came early to help set up! You are all thanked very much. Up next we are hosting the MSA president’s night at our clubhouse. Tuesday November 19 th at EMSC, 263 Levenseller Rd, Holden. Membership packets have been mailed out to all previous members.
