ATribute to Edward “Sonny” Fogg By Eileen Lafland with contributions from Andy Osborne E dward “Sonny” Fogg, a member of the Family Snow mobile Club in Bucksport for over 45 years passed away on July 4 th this year at the age of 93. He was also a lifetime member of that club and in 2013 was voted MSA Snow mobiler of theYear. Sonny had been an associate member of other snowmobile clubs as well in the past. Sonny was an active member of the club all those years. He would show up every Sunday morning to work on trails. He worked maintenance at the paper mill in Buck sport and was a great mechanic. If any of the club equip ment needed welding or repairs, Sonny was the man to do the work. Not only was he active in volunteering, Sonny was always ready to ride his snowmobile where ever the club was going. Each year this club plans a long trip with overnight stays starting in Maine and traveling through Canada and back to Maine. Sonny planned on these trips and enjoyed the long days. At age 89 or 90 Sonny went with the club as they left Millinocket. They went to Grand Falls, on to Bathurst, the Campbellton, back to Bathurst, Grand Falls back to Millinocket. This was a 1400-mile trip and Sonny was with them the whole way. Up until about three years ago Sonny was still riding 2,000 to 3,000 miles a year. When he decided to sell his sled and stop riding with the club, he told them it was because he didn’t know what would happen if he had a heart attack on the trails. That was at age 90!! Sonny’s generosity and kindness did not stop when he did sell the sled. The young couple that bought it asked him if he could keep it a few days until they found a trailer. He asked them if they had one and they didn’t so Sonny gave them the one he had. Edward “Sonny” Fogg will be missed greatly by all who knew him, especially his fellow snowmobilers at the Fam ily Snowmobile Club in Bucksport. Thank you for all the joy you brought to the club.
