Wreaths Across America On December 16, 2023, the Wreaths Across America Program was hosted again at South Buxton Cemetery. This program honors our country’s veterans by promoting the mission of Remembering, Honoring, and Teaching the sacrifices our veterans have made in the past and the future. This solemn gathering just before Christmas included having the Buxton Fire and Rescue Honor Guard, the Southern Maine Marine Corps League, Retired Marine Corps Major Stavro Nashi as the program guest speaker, Revolutionary War reenactors, an invocation by Rev. Daryl Lavway, Taps played by Mel Tukey, Bagpipes by Travis Cote, a moment of silence, and a wreath for each branch of our armed forces as well as a POW/MIA wreath. The program was coordinated by Chad Poitras, Program Chairman, and Richard “Sandy” Atkinson – Cemetery President. There was additional participation from the Buxton Police, Masons, Boy Scouts, audio technicians, and many more.
