Registrar of Voters 07/01/2022 – 06/30/2023

The Registrar of Voters and Deputy Registrars had a busy year maintaining voter registration records, certifying petitions, attending training sessions and servicing elections. On August 10, 2022, a Special Town Meeting was called to decide whether to purchase a 2022 Honda Pioneer UTV for the fire department and whether to purchase an excavator for public works. The UTV was tabled and the excavator will be purchased. October started the election process as people requested absentee ballots for the November 8 election. This election resulted in 2,748 ballots cast in person and 1,606 absentee ballots cast which equals 4,354 total ballots cast and a 64.18% voter turnout. On February 22, 2023, a Special Town Meeting was held in order to reconcile five (5) different accounts from fiscal year 2021-2022. Said money to come from Undesignated Surplus. On May 25, 2023, the School Budget for MSAD#6 was presented, discussed and voted on by the voters of the five towns who are serviced by this school district. The Town had 37 voters attend which was the largest number of all. The budget package was accepted and the next step in this process will happen on June 13, 2023 as the five Towns will vote on accepting this budget. On June 13, 2023, there were 638 ballots cast in person and 130 absentee ballots cast making the total ballots cast to be 768 which is 9.39% voter turn out! Saturday, June 17 the Town’s Annual Meeting was held to finish voting on the Town’s affairs. There were63 voters in attendance to vote on the 81 Articles which needed to be settled. All Articles were passed except for Article 58. This Article involved a zoning ordinance to require and regulate plumbing and electrical permits.
