Maine State Legislature AUGUSTA, MAINE 04333-0002
Maine State Legislature AUGUSTA, MAINE 04333-0002 Dear Friends: Thank you for the honor of representing our community in the Maine State House. I’m delighted to provide you this annual report detailing the work I’ve done in Augusta this session on your behalf. The second session of the Legislature began on January 3, 2024, and by the time we adjourned in late April, we voted on more than 600 bills. Using the legislative website: www.legislature.maine.gov, you can see my complete voting record, and access recorded proceedings of the House of Representatives. I’m pleased to serve on the Legislature’s Appropriations Committee, one of the most influential committees in the State House, to advance causes that are important to the people of Buxton and Hollis ranging from lower taxes and funding for energy and fuel assistance, to high-quality public education and shoring up the cost-of-living adjustment for Maine retirees. These are topics that affect all Mainers, but are especially felt here in our community. Working in a bipartisan way, I’ve been proud to work with colleagues across the aisle to deliver on my commitment to a more accountable, and less costly state government. Maine continues to struggle on a number of fronts; seniors are being taxed out of their longtime homes, young Mainers cannot afford to buy a home or start a family, and the high costs of food, fuel, and everything in between is especially difficult for middle- to low income people everywhere. It’s critical we address these crises and deliver on other basic commitments like public education, infrastructure, reforming our child protection system, and others so Maine can again be an affordable place to call our home. Thank you again for the honor and privilege of representing you at our State Capitol. To connect with me or subscribe to regular legislative updates, please email me directly at Nathan.Carlow@legislature.maine.gov, or call my office at (207) 287-1440.
