MSA Club News

one of the oldest clubs in Maine is just amaz ing, and we are proud to keep this Waldoboro tradition alive, and we hope the legacy of the Waldoboro Sno-Crawlers continues into the next generations. We will be back on the trails this weekend as they are still used by people who enjoy walk ing them, horseback riding on them, fat biking and snowshoeing. Please consider joining the club as it supports many community endeav ors, and you get a chance to be out on the trails with some of the finest and hardest working people around. Please be sure to look at our Facebook page for events, club meetings, and work parties. Respectfully, Stephanie Bravoco Club Reporter Hi Folks, Well, it looks like that’s a wrap on the sea son down here in Southern Maine. We had plenty of precipitation, but barely any of it was snow. The volunteers who were out every Sunday really knocked it out of the park on trail work. We were able to survive several rain/wind events which moved many bridges and knocked down hundreds of trees. The team was even able to resurrect an old trail in Dayton that included filling in low spots with hundreds of yards of woodchips. Many of us are on sledding forums on Face book so we can see what’s happening across the state. Northern and Western Maine had snow, but everyone was lacking in depth. The groomers did a great job in working with what they had, but lots of areas remained very thin. We’re hoping the businesses up north were able to have a successful season because Maine was about the only place in the east that had rideable snow. It was a poor season for most of the northern tier states all the way to Wisconsin. One of our young members, Ian Blake, took his February vacation week from school and went out to ride Yellowstone. Good for you Ian, it was a solid choice for vacation! Now, we’ll get ready for race season. The Pathfinders have a small dirt track behind the clubhouse and we host about a half dozen go kart races in the summer. This is one of our biggest fund raisers and is just a lot of fun. We’re always looking for volunteers to help out on race night, so if you’re interested, just reach out to us and we’ll put you to work. By the time this MSA newsletter comes out, we’re hoping you may have caught us on TV singing the Reny’s jingle. A bunch of mem bers met at the clubhouse on a sunny warm day in February and shot the jingle about 20 times. We had a lot of laughs doing it. I may be wrong, but I believe we are the first snow mobile club in the state to sing the famous SACO PATHFINDERS sc Saco, ME Find us on Facebook

‘Reny’s….A Maine Adventure’. That’s about all from sunny Saco Maine. Get your sleds summarized and start digging out the camping and boating gear! Cheers Doug Doherty, President WISCASSET SNO-GOERS Wiscasset, ME Hello from the Wiscasset Sno-Goers, We know that we speak for every club and every snow lover when we say, what a year!! Mother Nature certainly has not been kind with the white gold this year and we know that many areas of the state have really suffered as a result of this dry year. The Sno-Goers have been busy keeping the trail system ready to go when the white gold arrives. The team has been busy opening up Trail 1 including re-positioning a bridge that “took one for the team” during one of the seasons rain deluge. Special thanks to Grover Construction and the crew for bringing the excavator to the site to make this task possible. Some updates - Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Meetings are held at the Wiscasset FD training facility and begin at 6 pm with a pot luck followed by business. Lastly - As always, a huge thank you to the landowners! We simply would not have a trail system without their generosity and support.

WINDHAM DRIFTERS Windham, ME

Here in Windham we continue to have hope that Mother Nature will bless us with some snow so we can ride our trails before ground hog gets his way!!! Our club had planned a community winter fun event in February but due to lack of snow, we had to cancel. The club currently has 124 family and busi ness members!!!! A special thanks to all who have joined the Drifters and to those who have made donations to the club. We are very fortu nate for all the support! If you haven’t joined our club yet, please do so, you could win free Drifters merchandise!!! The club recently sold our 16-foot equip ment trailer and we are looking to buy a 20’ trailer to allow us to haul the groomers and drags together. If you happen to have one for sale or know of one, we’d love to hear from you. With almost 40 miles of trails, there’s always branches and young growth that can be trimmed from the trail system. Now is a great time to take a walk on a section of trails and help us all out! Please follow our Facebook page and fre quent our website for projects and events dates. If you didn’t receive a membership form in the mail, you can purchase one easily from our website. Lastly, a special Thanks to those dedicated officers and members who work year-round for our club. Follow us on Facebook and visit our web site windhamdrifters.com THINK SNOW!!! Keep Doing the snow dance folks!!! Ride Right and Ride Safe! Till next time, Shane Spencer-Club Reporter Hello Everyone, The Sno-Crawlers have been very busy repairing the trails despite there being no snow to speak of this season. The club mem bers have logged a record 500 hours this year due to the multiple wind and rainstorms, this fall and winter. These storms were epic and caused major damage to most of the trail system. Each weekend a group of dedicated members gets out there and repaisr the many bridges, trims brush, cuts down the trees that fell in the trail, and cleans up any trash found on the trails. We would like to give a special thank you to Tony and Bobi Lash for the use of Club house and constant support of the club. We also want to thank our many loyal members, businesses, and landowners for without you the club would not exist. The dedication to WALDOBORO SNO-CRAWLERS Waldoboro, ME

Hello One and All, Hope everyone is surviving the mild Winter thus far. I have to say the trails in Alna have been a challenge this year but we have made the best of what we have had to ride when we have been able to. Club Members removed trees from the Sky line Trail a few weekends back and rerouted the trail around the Solar Farm that is going in on the Southern part of town. We also made a trip South onto Wiscasset’s trails and enjoyed lunch with Carla and the gang at Cubbyhole Sports Pub on the West Alna Road in Wiscas set. Check it out if you are in the area. Sup port MSA members! One Mile has been used a few times with impromptu gatherings with some hardy members. Lots of fun times in the woods. We have enjoyed a decent base but the lack of snow has made it nearly impos sible for us to drag. Enough cold temps but just no snow storms. I know this is statewide unfortunately. Lack of snow is not uncommon for us here along the coast but usually a trip to camp or trailering inland will get you some real snow. Not so much this year. Our Potluck monthly club meetings at the Alna Fire House are coming to an end for this Season. We have been consistent with good attendance and some great food items to enjoy. The club distributed Club gear T-shirts and sweatshirts members ordered. We voted to donate again to the Alna Fire Department for graciously letting our club meet at the fire house and we voted to purchase a snow roller to try out next season to pack the snow early to keep a firm base. It will be fun to try out! Check out our Facebook Page: Alna Snow mobile Club. We are still hoping for a nice big storm to end of the season! Club Reporter Joel Verney
