What’s Been Going On... T he storm on December 18th was a hard blow for the snowmobiling community. However, one thing is for certain clubs from all over the state have proven that they can’t be stopped! Initially we were shocked by the devas tation that the trail system endured. But quickly that turned to amazement of the dedication that clubs have for the sport and our State.
One trail at a time repairs are underway. Less than 3 weeks after the event trails have been cleared and bridges repaired. Yes, there is still a lot of work left but there’s no doubt that when all man winter arrives we will ride! Thank you to all of the volunteers, contractors and local business that have stepped up to the plate. We solute you! “Without exaggeration, Blake Laliberte and Shawn Bennett saved our snowmobile season! They reached out to us after seeing our Facebook posts and took a day off from work to bring us the equip ment and expertise to get two major bridges back in place. These young men worked hard and skillfully to restore our bridges. Garrett Sullivan stopped by before work to assist again, which helped us to get the first bridge done quickly. We still have about 3 work days left to get our trails in shape to open. We have scheduled a work day for Saturday and hope to get a few more volunteers so we can wrap up this work and ride.”
“A big shout out to Tony Parker for clearing downed trees south of Danforth on 105 today and to Jamie and Jennifer Wiles of Trailside Lodging and Restaurant for clear
ing downed trees on 105 north of Danforth. Dave cleared over head limbs and trees with a pole saw today to prevent breaking the groomer windshield. Lots of signing done today as well. Still more to do and every bit is appreciated. We really need a deep freeze to firm up the ground before snow!”
“QCSC was out working on ITS105 cutting trees on Schillinger Rd., today. John Rowan, Mike Corbin and Kevin OBrien cleared the trees on the twelve mile section. Thank you for your hard work.”
“So we have a 20’ section that is being replaced with a new section that Rick Levas seur had at another location. His team from JoMary rid ers is in there working on this now. As you can see, all the decking was ripped off the existing section. We are looking for (25), 8” wide x
3” thick by 5’ long preferably hemlock planks. Please reach out to Trailmaster Peter Plourde if you have some! Noteworthy, see the Boulder? That was the final resting place when the high water was done!”
