Tips from the Moosetown Riders Club. Most avid sledders know where they want to go and what they need to get there. However, some of us still enjoy some helpful tips, especially when we are setting out toThe Last Frontier!The most useful tip -- add this destination to the top of your list, making sure that you plan your trip to include breakfast or lunch –or both-- at Two Rivers Lunch! You can fuel up at Joe’s Country Store or Cham berlain’s Market if coming to us via St. Francis from the directions of Fort Kent, St. Agatha, French ville, Madawaska. If coming to us from the south – Portage and beyond -- fuel is available beyond the 120 intersection at Eagle Lake or about eight miles beyond the other end of the 120 intersection at Chamberlain’s Market in St. Francis. Most sleds today have a way to bring along an extra few gallons which we recommend so that you can enjoy all that our trails have to offer. When enter ing into theTown of Allagash, you will see that the area is a winter deeryard. You’ll enjoy watching the deer run on and across the trail in and from every direction – a beautiful sight to see! No doubt after you have planned to come this far, you will not want to miss out on the opportunity to see moose or Canada lynx as you ride. The remote 47 miles beyond Two Rivers Lunch, to the farthest place on the northeast corner of the US where our ITS 92 will bring you to Estcourt Sta tion, the US Customs and Border Protection Port of Entry. This Port of Entry is open Monday – Friday 8 – 4 (closed every weekend and major holidays). Once you arrive, our groomed trail will bring you directly to the Canada Port of Entry where you will enter the Province of Quebec.You can enter Canada and fuel up and even grab a meal at some cool places in Pohènègamook. Then the sky is the limit with destinations like Rimouski, Rivière-du-Loup and the Gaspè. Before heading to this must-see spot in the world,

towards Glacier lake, Beau lake and off to Escourt Station. Cross into Poheganamook, Quebec, Canada. Get fuel and enjoy the Canadian trails and discover the Quebecois cuisine and culture. Or ride east towards the Debouille Mountain area, into St Francis Maine continues towards Fort, Kent or Eagle Lake. Moosetown Riders trail system and conditions are second to none. New for the winter of 2024 Wicked North Out doors LLC will be offering Guided snowmobile, BackCountry and Trail riding tours. Check out their website for lodging, pictures and guided tour packages. Bring your sled, warm gear and a desire for a wonderful time spent in the North Maine Woods. Novice, intermediate and advanced riders will know that they will be riding the pristine part of snowmobil ing backcountry. For those who prefer to trail ride our guides are more than willing to offer the best snowmobiling experience, possi ble, visiting places, such as Horse Mountain in Portage. Debouille Mountain in St Francis as well as Escourt Station into Quebec.

There are lodging options in All agash but some riders prefer to travel to Allagash for a day trip. Our Moosetown Riders do a great job maintaining our trail system but we are grateful for the sur rounding clubs and their efforts. The St.Francis Sno Angels meet our trail system on ITS 92 near Chamberlain’s Market in St. Fran cis. From there, they head East on ITS92 to St. John, ME and con nect withThe Fort Kent Snowmo bile Club. The Sno Angels have a clubhouse overlooking the St. John River and are open to the public from October to March. They serve a hot meal on Satur day evenings. The Eagle Lake Winter Riders connect with Allagash on the 120 Connector in the beautiful Debou lie area near Red River Camps. They groom from there to ITS 85. The 85 North will take riders to Eagle Lake, Wallagrass and Fort Kent. South on ITS 85 will lead riders to Portage Lake. Moosetown Riders welcome you to an exciting winter won derland. ITS 92 and 120 connec tor has 94 miles of groom trails through glistening scenery. Have breakfast/lunch at Two Rivers Lunch. Pass through the wonder ful Allagash community, stop and take pictures of the multiple deer wintering at several locations. Continue onwards on ITS 92 west

won’t regret adding Forget-Me Not Diner to your list of “sled for food” stops. They are located in St. Francis on our neighbor club’s trail system. We also love when you stop at the 92/120 intersection (known by the locals as Pelletier Brook Bridge) and use either the scenic flowing brook or our Spon sorship Banner as a back drop for your photos and then share them with us on FB! Don’t forget to go down into Connor’s Cove on Gla zier Lake off of the ITS 92 beyond Allagash and then continue along Beau Lake to enjoy the long and straight trails to Estcourt. Who says it has to be all about the ride? Why not plan a snowshoe, cross¬country ski, winter hot tent stay or a great stay at all of the fantastic lodging options so that you can view the starry, winter night sky. From Allagash you can enjoy a week’s worth of day trips to Eagle Lake to St. Francis and back. Or, from Allagash to Eagle Lake to Soldier Pond to Sinclair to St. Agatha then to Frenchville through Fort Kent and back. Or, from Allagash through Debouille to Portage to Stockholm to Fort Kent and back. Any weekday ride can include heading out of your fantastic Allagash lodging to Que bec and then into New Brunswick and re-enter the US at the Port of Entry in Fort Kent and back to All agash. The saying in Allagash is “if you get here we’ll take care of you”. So, what are you waiting for?

There are many cabins available for lodging. However, if you are looking to spend just a day, we also have a Park and Ride along our trail system located behind the Little Black Checkpoint. This parking lot can fill up fast due to the fact that Allagash usually has snow the earliest, and some

years last until the beginning of April. You will also find an infor mation board at this location with hours of operation for the Cana dian border as well as gas and food locations.
