I have so many people I would like to thank for all of the love and support this community has shown to my family and me since my recent diagnosis. Firstly, I would like to thank all of the rescue and EMT crew members and the CTC crew who were involved in getting me comfortably and quickly transported to the mainland and then to MMC. I knew I was in good hands. I feel so fortunate to have my family members, both here and “ashore” who have made me feel so very comfortable in their home and made sure I’ve had everything I could ever want or need. I’ve especially appreciated the TLC that my Grand-pup, Newt, has given to me and for sharing his space with me. Finally, I need to express my profound gratitude to the people of this island community who have given gifts of your time, meals, flowers, cards and especially your love. Like so many of us native Chebeaguers, we sometimes speak about the many not-so-great changes that have taken place here and we long for the good old days and the wonderful people who were part of our treasured past. It has taken this “new normal” in my life to recognize that I’ve been overlooking the love and goodness that is still here! The many acts of kindness and support that has been given to me and to my family has been overwhelming and so appreciated. Looking at the island and this amazing community through new eyes has been a blessing and I’m so grateful to you all. With love and appreciation, Judy
