CHEBEAGUE ISLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY JUNE 2023 ANNUAL MEETING 7 PM on JUNE 10th at the ISLAND HALL and on ZOOM Please join us on Saturday, June 10th at 7 PM at the Hall or on Zoom for our Annual Meeting. All members and friends are welcome! Our agenda includes a review of the 2022 challenges and accomplishments, the 2022 financial report, 2023 projects and activities, and Board of Trustees elections. Following the meeting, we will enjoy a presentation from Donna Miller Damon about the history of the District 9 schoolhouse. Zoom meeting ID is 829 6247 6056. No password required.

Save the Date: Sunday, August 13 Please join the CIHS as we celebrate the 150 th Anniversary of the District 9 Schoolhouse The early afternoon festivities, which will be open to the public free of charge, will include a rededication of the building, entertainment, remembrances, activities for kids, book sign ings, music, refreshments and more. Late af ternoon activities will include an old-fashioned lobster bake fundraiser with entertainment provided by a jazz band with a nationally known vocalist. We hope you will join us! Details will be available in July.

Mike Robinson successfully identified the site as the Cove at Cen tral Landing. Mike, his brother Gene, and his cousins Jeff and Jason Hamilton have moorings in the cove that was part of the salt water farm of their ancestors, Benjamin and Eliza Hamilton.

Descendant Mark McGee currently lives in the Hamil tons’ 1835 home .
