TYLER PUTNAM AND SARAH NORDIN A SPECIAL 10 TH ANNIVERSARY PROGRAM SATURDAY, JUNE 17, 7:00 P.M.
PAUL ENGLISH’S DOUBL E SAXOPHONE QUINTET SATURDAY, AUGUST 12, 7:00 P.M.
Houston-based pianist and composer Paul English has been full of delightful musical surprises each time he has performed on Che beague — the intimacy of a jazz trio, the fascinating rhythms of Brazilian tunes, the inspiration of sacred music, to name a few. This season will be no exception. He’ll be “cooking” with a unique, two saxophone quintet composed of “a geographically diverse group of jazz masters.” Paul says, “You will never again believe that one saxophone is enough. Prepare to be enthralled, in no way appalled, pleased and appeased, sated, for, as stated, these fellers are stellar.” NOVEL JAZZ SEPTET SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, 2:00 P.M. CHEBEAGUE ISLAND SCHOOL YARD What could be more compelling? A sunny Sunday afternoon, folks in lawn chairs scattered around the schoolyard, dogs and kids dart ing around and the alluring music of Billy Strayhorn and Duke El lington. The “cats” (jazzspeak for musicians) tell us that Che beague is their favorite place to play — and it shows in the joy they take in playing familiar standards such as “Lotus Blossom,” “Take the A Train” and “Chelsea Bridge” and in introducing us to rare tunes they’ve found at the Smithsonian Institution. So, bring your blankets and lawn chairs and settle in for an entrancing afternoon of “America’s classical music.” SEASIDE BRASS QUINTET SUNDAY, AUGUST 27, 2:00 P.M. JIM AND ANNE GALLAGH ER’S COTTAGE The Seaside Brass Quintet has been a part of the summer concert series almost since its beginning, presenting programs of classical, jazz, Broadway and popular tunes. Rossini juxtaposed with Len non and McCartney juxtaposed with Irving Berlin. You get this versatile picture! Their concert two years ago was one of the most popular of that season — familiar music, a beautiful, relaxed set ting, even a fun, show tune trivia game. It will be great to wel come them back. Special Note: Concert pianist Diane Walsh, a beloved regular in our series over the past half dozen years, has retired from playing professionally. We respect her decision, of course, and wish her well, but will miss her passion, consummate technique and com pelling programs.
Tyler and Sarah first thrilled Chebeague concertgoers ten years ago with an eclectic program featuring beloved music from Broad way and opera. Every summer since they have taken a break from their blossoming careers to enchant the audience that loves them best. For this special anniversary program, they are working on a surprise segment that promises to make this their most memora ble appearance here yet. One recent review said, “Putnam and Nordin command the stage with world-class voices that can best be described as nothing less than celestial.” We already knew that. SEBAGO LONG LAKE MUSIC FESTIVAL THURSDAY, JULY 20, 6:30 P.M. The musicians of the Sebago Long Lake Music Festival, who cele brated their 50 th anniversary last year, have become part of the Chebeague extended family. They relish their time on Chebeague, renewing friendships, enjoying island hospitality, strolling on the beach, rehearsing with the sounds of gulls and lobster boats in the background. For over 20 years, Chebeaguers in turn have em braced them and their inspiring chamber music. This summer, their program will feature works by Haydn, Kodaly and Dvorak’s Piano Quintet in A Major, acknowledged as “one of the finest ex amples of late Romantic chamber music.” Please note the special time of this concert. WONDERFUL WORLD: A MUSICAL RETELLING OF ROBERT MCCLOSKEY’S BLUEBERRIES FOR SAL AND ASHLEY BRYAN’S WONDERFUL WORLD AND LET IT SHINE. We are delighted that the 2023 season will feature our second annual performance for “children of all ages”— a musical depic tion of Robert McCloskey’s Blueberries for Sal and Ashley Bryan’s Wonderful World and Let It Shine . Last summer, the young mem bers of the Halcyon String Quartet captivated the children, par ents, grandparents and everyone else with their imaginative retell ing of Burt Dow, Deep Water Man . For this season, they have de veloped a program that celebrates two of Maine’s most beloved children’s book authors and illustrators. It is sure to charm chil dren of all ages — from Chebeague and from away. HALCYON STRING QUARTET SATURDAY, JULY 29, 4:00 P.M.
All performances will be held at the Chebeague Community Church, except as otherwise noted. Please remember that there is never an admission charge for MacBeth concerts which are funded by many to benefit the community at large. QUESTIONS? Contact Carl Tubbesing at carldt@gwi.net.

We are actively seeking additional sources of revenue, including grants, but fare increases are necessary to help underwrite our operations. The CTC Board has approved seasonal fare increases listed below. The new rates will be in effect May 18 - Octo ber 9. Additionally, daily parking fees will increase to $20/day at Route 1 and $30/day at Cousins Island.
During the past year, CTC - like many businesses and individuals - has expe rienced significant increases in oper ating expenses. Along with the nearly 100% jump in diesel fuel prices, in creased repair and maintenance fees and rising labor rates, the cost of providing our services has risen sharply.
