ANNUAL REPORT Planning

The Planning Department is responsible for assisting Planning Board applicants and helping the community identify and achieve long-term goals associated with growth, land management, and economic development. The department provides support to the Planning Board, Land Management Planning Committee, Economic Development Committee, as well as providing planning assistance on infrastructure projects. Planning Board The Planning Board reviewed and approved six new site plan applications, • Medical Marijuana Greenhouse 605A Penney Road • Medical Marijuana Greenhouse 440 Tobey Road • Quarry 34 Pond Road • Barn in the Historic Resource Overlay District 170 Cobbs Bridge Road • Water Systems business 1156 Lewiston Road Subdivision Reviews: • Amendment to Boundary Brooks subdivision Thanks to all who served: Dan Ellingson, Eric Hargreaves (vice-chair), Don Libby (chair), Steven Libby Cassandra Liberty, Doug McAtee, Ben Tettlebaum, and Jean Libby (alternate). Land Management Planning Committee (LMPC) The LMPC has been working very hard on an ordinance to regulate cannabis in town. The other projects that the committee has worked on this year are the Groundwater Protection Overlay, Use- Determination ordinance, and the Sign ordinance. Thanks to all who served: Brian Shedlarski, Charles Gauvin, Donald Libby, Jean Libby, John Salisbury, Karen Gilles, and Thomas Jordan Economic Development Committee Economic Development Committee reconvened this year since 2020. They hosted their first New Gloucester Networking event for local businesses. They are working on updating the business list and creating a map feature.
