Notes From The Council
With the holidays over, the island has returned to its quiet winter state. It’s a time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the season. The Chebeague Island Council is supporting the community through the winter with our Good Samaritan assistance program. Please contact us if you need help with your fuel costs. While the temperatures have been higher than usual, so too have fuel and electricity prices. We can also help with ferry tickets if you need to travel regularly to the mainland for medical treatments. We also provide medical alert buttons. Please call Kathy Kuntz for confidential assistance. Chedemption has slowed down to a quieter pace. Clynk pick-ups at Chandler’s have switched to Thursdays. Non-profits should
be receiving their share of the Chedemption proceeds later this winter. For all you wine drinkers out there, the Bagettes ask if you have tried any of the boxed wines? For regular table wine, they don’t taste at all different plus the boxes can be recycled and the Clynk bags will be that much lighter. Wednesday soup has been popular this winter. The soups have been delicious, and the good company can’t be beat. If you would like to offer a soup or dessert, please let Sarah Hopkins know. We’d be grateful for the help. The Wellness Center is working out the details to have a nurse from Northern Light return to the island on a regular basis. Peggy Akers, RN, will be coming on February 8 th . She will join our other providers, Dr. St John from Mend Chiropractic, Dr.Rybka, and Dr. Larson.
