In Memory of Harvey Williams 1930 - 2022

I t is with great sadness that we announce the pass ing of Harvey Williams. Harvey was a pillar in the MSA’s Central Region, his knowledge and dedica tion to the sport was unparalleled. He lead by ex ample, mentored many and his legacy will continue with the snowmobile/ATV bridge across the Carra bassett River in North Anson named in his honor the “Williams Bridge”. Harvey was the Trail master of the Anson-North Anson Snowmobile club for more than 30 years and was recognized by the Maine Snowmobile As sociation for his dedication to keeping trails in his area in tip-top condition by being presented with the Groomer of the Year award in 2005. He and Jean put in many hours raising funds to buy and support the club’s snow groomer, garaged at the farm for many years.

Harvey loved any recreational vehicle with a mo tor, and the bigger the motor the better! A snowmo bile was purchased “for the boys”, but it turned out that Mom and Dad used the snowmobile more than “the boys”. The next spring a second snowmobile was purchased, with a MUCH larger motor (that was HIS!). That started a favorite hobby for him. In 1986, Harvey, Jean and six others snowmobiled cross-country from Maine to Eagle Lake, Wis. (No passports needed in those days to cross into Cana da, then back into the USA across Lake Michigan!) Our deepest condolences goes out to Jean and their children. Thank you for sharing Harvey with all of us. Please know that each time we ride over the “Williams Bridge” we will smile and whisper a thank you to Harvey for his dedication.
