NEWS FROMTHEMSA SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE DID YOU KNOW MSA HAS A SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION?

Each year the MSA awards two $1000 scholarships to eligible MSA members, and/or their immediate family members. This includes business members as well. To be eligible you have to be a MSA member for the previous two years, and fill out an application. The deadline for submitting the application is by the close of business on April 1 st . The scholarships are for ANY MSA member or their immediate family who is either planning to go to college, or already enrolled in a degree program or pursuing a Masters Degree. A family member is defined as a legal

dependent living in one household. If chosen the applicant will be notified by the Scholarship committee. The scholarships will be awarded in January after confirmation of enrollment in the second semester. mobiling would not be what it has become today. The will ingness to allow a trail to cross on your property is a gift to all who you use it and should be taken seriously. The land owners make up many of the trails I help to clean up, walk in the summer, and ride in the winter. There donation of space, makes getting outdoors and experiencing nature easy. It seems, to the outside world, like an invasion of privacy or an inconvenience, when in my world it is one of the best ways to bring a community together. Whether it’s stopping by at a neighbor’s, dinner with other landowners, or a way of connecting towns together, it keeps our community connected and involved. c. What snowmobiling means to you and what your plans are for your future. Snowmobiling is not just a winter sport; it is a way to create memories. Some of my favorite winter memories as a kid are riding on the back of my parent’s sleds. Snowmobiling has a lot more that goes into it than just riding. Trails must be cleaned, repaired, rerouted, groomed, improved, every year, and truly after every snowstorm. rn every one of these things takes a group of dedicated snowmobile lovers to vol unteer and take care of what other can enjoy for free. Trail maintenance is a lot of hard work but has created an impres sion on how f view the world outside my window. Discon necting and getting outside with my family to maintain trails, has allowed me to sec the best aspects of the beautiful earth around us. Experiencing the sweet smell of pine after a fresh snow in the winter or hearing the melodious chirp of baby birds in the spring has all been an experience, I can thank the snow mobile trails for. I hope to find snowmobile trails wherever I go, to remind myself of the gift of nature.

a. Why the snowmobiling industry is very important to the State of Maine? Our state is more than a politically organized geographi cal location, it’s a community. In the center if this commu nity is the companionship between winter sport lovers and supporters. People from all over the country and all over the world come to visit what the great state of Maine has to offer, especially in the winter. Maine has all the aspects to be the greatest tourist attraction in the world because of its desire to keep a clean, nature driven, environment. Every chance Main ers get to encourage and embrace the great outdoors we take. Snowmobiling is vital to our states survival because it encourages unplugging from society and getting outside, is a great way to attract tourists, and creates a community within the state. b. The importance of landowner relations to snowmobiling. Without the support and compassion of landowners, snow
