MAY 2022 MYSTERY PHOTO
In the late 1930s, Doug Dyer was stand- ing near his father’s fish house above the ledges in Colemans Cove near the site of Western Landing. The Town road extended to the adjacent proper- ty, which is why you see a mail box in the photo. The color photo provides another angle of the scene and shows the gas pump. Bev Johnson identified the photo!
Can you identify the building/location, two of the people, and the approximate date of the photo? If so, email us!
CIHS ONLINE STORE CLOSED CIHS was pleased to offer an online store during the pandemic when we were unable to allow regular access to our Museum. Thankfully, we are able to resume normal summer hours in 2022. Therefore, we are suspending our online shop—and encourage everyone to visit our 2022 exhibit “Growing Up on Chebeague.” Thank you for your sup- port—and a special thank you to Beth McNulty for her countless hours maintaining the online shop in the last two years.
CIHS ANNUAL MEETING The Historical Society’s Annual Member Meet- ing will be held on June 11th at 7 PM. Please join us at the Island Hall. After the business meeting, we are pleased to offer a presentation by Dr. Chuck Radis, author of “ Go by Boat: Stories of a Maine Island Doctor ”. Chebeague was one of the islands serviced by Dr. Radis. We hope to see you there!
