The Lyon’s Share The Commons thanks the family of Peg Lyons for their generous donation of the contents of Peg’s house on John Small Road. The gift was made in appreciation of the care Peg received from the Commons’ in- home care team prior to her death in October. An estate sale on Feb. 12 drew a large crowd (despite mud and ice) and provided Peg’s friends and neighbors with an opportunity to remember a generous islander and to also support the Island Commons. In the words of Peg’s daughter Amy, “The Island Commons has been so good to our family. Couldn’t have kept Mom on the island so long without them. Happy to give a little something back.”

The Red Studio will be bursting at the seams this summer, thanks to another generous donor, Linda White, whose gifts of furniture, antiques, art and china have been relocated to our favorite resale shop. Thank you, Linda. The Gift of Time… Some volunteers go above and beyond for the Commons, and Ann Thaxter is at the head of that class. Ann has been here every week, year in and year out, to help with chores that are, shall we say?... unglamorous. (We’re talking trash removal.) We truly appreciate your many years of dedication, Annie! A big thank you from all of us.

Join our care team at the Commons! Part-time work with elders in their homes (Chebeague Cares). Summer job opportunities to help with cooking and cleaning from 7am to 2pm. Always looking for CRMA’s for direct care at the Commons…full time, part time. Give Amy Rich a call at 846-5610
