dreaming of Santa and some adults are dream- ing of snow. In the Detroit and Plymouth areas we have seen a few flakes and just keep wishing for more. Members and volunteers have been continuing on trail improvements. Detroit has seen a stretch get much needed work and made it wider. Plymouth is busy opening up some previously closed trails. Groomers are getting the tune ups they need to be ready to hit the trails. On Halloween a Trunk or Treat was hosted with 126 kids enjoying themselves and many, many adults as well. We were happy to pro- vide a safe place for them. The Thanksgiving Day Raffle is conclud- ing as this is being written. Who will be the 4 THANKFUL winners? Hunter’s Breakfast returned on November 13th and I hear Santa will be stopping by on December 4. A free French toast breakfast for the kiddos will be waiting for them as they wait to tell Santa their wish list. Club President Brett Salisbury has been very busy and very successful renewing busi- ness members and obtaining many more new businesses. We are very Thankful for their support. Find us on Facebook Night Drifters Snow- mobile Club! As always, a good time was had by all! Greetings as the Holiday Season approaches, work on the trail has been progressing quite well. Yesterday we put up the frame for the new shed we are building on the West side for the Ranger. With the high cab, the one we have used for years just won’t work, so we purchased a new one that is 20x13 and 12 feet high. We will cover it this week when the wind drops down. The membership is sloweeeeely coming in. We are now up to 12 family and 3 business members. We still meet at the Rome Town Hall on the second Tuesday of the month from September toApril and we need all of our old members to come and help guide this club. Our C-4 map sales are going quite well. The Holiday Cards will be going out to all of our 50 some land owners soon with a thank you letter and a copy of the Liability letter from the state. Trail marking is scheduled for the 12th of December. We have ordered a pull behind bush hog to help with the trimming. It has an offset drawbar and can be hauled by a 4X4 or the Ranger. We have another new trail that has been cut but needs trimming and ground work, looks like it will be open next year. Our trail is growing and getting better but what we need is more members to support the club. So, what is the answer? Come to the meetings, bring your friend next door, and your hunting or fishing buddy. As always, Ride Right, Stay in control, and Think Snow, (lots of it). Hal Garnett, Secretary, Rome Ruff Riders Greetings Trailblazers, As I write this, it is the evening of Thanks- giving. My belly is full of turkey, stuffing, and pie and my heart is full for the time spent with family today. I hope everyone else had a good day as well. While watching the news this evening and getting an update on tomorrow’s forecasted rain, they inform us that the rain will be changing to snow! I know that several have been at work getting the trails ready but there is more work to be done. Hopefully by the time we have rideable trails everything will be cleared and signed and wind storms don’t undo what was already done. This has happened in recent years, so be cautious as you head on the trails. corner, on December 4 th . We were in hopes of having insulation in our building by then, but the unavailability of insulation is holding up the process. Lastly, we are well underway with selling our Snowball Raffle tickets. If you are inter- ested in buying or helping sell tickets, please contact Donna Shaw at 333-2746. This is our biggest fundraiser and it is important that we sell all 200 tickets. Think Snow! Finally, we held our first meeting for 2021 on Nov. 22, where there was a motion to change the meeting start time from 7:00pm to 6:30 PM. The majority where in favor, so we will meet on the first and third Mondays of the month at 6:30 PM at the Central Fire Station on Rt 126 In Pittston. We had a lot of discus- sion about rebuilding two of our major bridges in early December, also with the end of hunt- ing season we are going to get out clearing and trimming back the trails. We are really looking forward to a long, deep winter for grooming and riding. With that being said, we once again want to thank all of the landowners that allow our trails to cross their property and make it all possible. If the weather allows, we will be out working on the trails Sunday Dec. 5 th and plan on rebuilding the bridge behind the Village Store. Next club meeting will be on Dec 6 th @ 6:30 PM. Joshua Savard Roberta Kemp Vice President PITTSTON PROWLERS, sc Gardiner, ME Trailmaster report was given, a lot of work has been done on the trails, brushing, tree removal, bridge repairs, and trails marked. Hope all had a great Thanksgiving! The feasting must have been good for some as I haven’t seen any wild turkeys lately. As December unfolds, we have one crit- ical trail closing. Weyerhauser informed us that they will have logging operations with a three-man crew and a skidder that will close the trail from East Shore Road (near Walker Road) up to Dunbar Hill for the whole win- ter. That has been an alternate ITS 84 passage when the Carrabassett River crossing in North Anson is closed. Alternate options to connect to ITS 84 by the Solon bridge will be our trail around Sandy and Fahi Ponds to the rail-bed (ITS 84) or the trails north of Embden Pond to Pleasant Ridge or accessing a local trail on the Northeast shore of Embden Pond (by Dia- monds camp) that will pass the Braaap Shack and ultimately the ITS 84 trail by the Solon Bridge. The Directors have decided to CANCEL the Christmas Party that was planned for Decem- ber 11th. However, this should not stop you from gathering non-perishable food items for our local food pantries. We will put notice of this and the trail issue on our Facebook page. The planning continues for the Snowfest on February 12, 2022. Of course, that outside activity should prove as a source of good food, games and a chance to visit. Trailmaster Jay Wilson wasn’t sad that we didn’t have any Halloween storms that have plagued us. He and his support team have cleared the trails and will provide adequate signage to guide you to where you would like to go. So, be safe and considerate at all times. Remember, although insured, kiddo, they don’t pay you, they pay your widow. Your Cub Reporter Hi y’all, It’s going to be an amazing year for the Lexington Highlanders Snowmobile Club. We have just completed the addition to the inside of our building, which means we have actu- ally doubled the size of our club house. We can now host 60 people seated comfortably. A great big “THANK YOU” to all who helped! We just can’t wait for all of you to come by and see the “NEW” club house. So, we are hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Saturday, January 15th at 1:00 PM, please come and join us for the festivities!!!! At this time, we would also like to make you aware that many of the Lexington area trails have changed, some slightly and others com- pletely. The trail that used to run towards and behind the Happy Horseshoe Campground is now closed. The new trail heading to King- field, runs from the Last Round Up Road in Lexington, south westerly towards Kingfield, most of which is on private land and borders a tree farm, so we are taking this time to remind all snowmobilers to stay on marked trails ONLY and to respect all landowners property! As with many clubs, volunteers are hard to come by, so we are urging everyone to join a club or two and pitch in! Your help would be greatly appreciated and it would continue to ensure a quality riding experience. We look forward to seeing you out on the trails. Ride Safe See you all at the open house! CARMEL sc Carmel, ME
Hello MSAMembers, Things are moving right along at Carmel Snowmobile Club. Elections were held and we now have a new President. A special thank you to Patricia Babcock for stepping up and taking over the position. Also thank you to Ron, Shirley, and Kris for continuing to hold their positions for another year. Carmel days and Trunk or Treat have come and gone. It was truly two successful events, fundraiser wise for our club. We spent the time selling dough- boys and ribbons chips. Thank you to all the volunteers and businesses who donated to the events. Shout out to Kevin Howell, town man- ager, for continuing to think of us and having us involved with town activities. Trail work is just getting underway. We are a little behind this year, and with hunting season, it is Sunday’s only. We usually start at 8am and meet at the club if anyone can come down and give us a hand. In unfortu- nate news, we have lost a part of our Carmel to Hermon connector trail. We are trying any and all options for a work around. If we are not successful, you can still access our trails through ITS 84 and Newburgh trail system. Please don’t let this discourage you from rid- ing our trails. Good luck to everyone this hunting season and please be safe in the woods. Think snow and hopefully we will be seeing you on the trails soon. Sincerely, Elijah Brazier. CENTRAL REGION The Blizzard Busters delivered their annual Landowners Appreciation Supper on Octo- ber 24 th . Due to the Covid restrictions last year’s meal was offered to all the landowners as a meals on wheels type of event. From all accounts it was a well-received success and the food was delicious. Since last year’s Landown- ers Appreciation Supper was so well received the Blizzard Busters continued the “new tradi- tion.” Once again reports are the food was deli- cious and appreciated. Many thanks to all our landowners for their continued support. Also, thanks to all the club members who helped out, especially Cherie and Jurgen Wurth our talented chefs as well as Sonya Clark for orga- nizing the event. Trail work continues, to include bridge repairs and replacements, and all should be ready for use when the snow arrives. When riding in our area don’t forget to try the trail that was opened in conjunction with the Win- throp Hillandalers Club three years ago. This relatively new trail allows travel between the Readfield and Winthrop trails without going on the lake. The Blizzard Busters continue to hold their monthly meetings on the first Wednes- day of each month. Meeting time is 7PM in the Weathervane Restaurant lower level. The Weathervane Restaurant has been gracious enough to allow us the private use of this area. The lower level is large enough to allow safe social distancing. All are welcome, those wish- ing to wear a mask are welcome to do so. The new location is working well. Congratulations to Jeff and Gigi. Best wishes in your retirement years. Thank you so much for generosity and hospitality. Until the next time, let’s hope for some cold weather. Think snow!
