Notes From The Council

These beautiful Fall days are some of best Island days, but we all know what is ahead. The Council has been busy preparing for the Flu Clinic. Last year we had a record number of participants and by the time this newsletter is in your mailbox the 2021 Flu Clinic will have happened, Mac and Beth’s delicious donuts will be gone, and the volunteers who worked hard to make it run smoothly will be able to relax. Thanks to all who, once again, helped to make sure as many Islanders as possible have a healthier winter. The Council will soon have a HEPA filter system in the Wellness

Center as part of a building wide effort to make the Community Center a safer place to go while COVID continues to be a concern. Dr. Larson and the Maine Health Care at Home nurses will continue to make health care available on the Island. Unfortunately, the Council had to put several of out Fall plans on pause due to COVID transmission rates in our area. Currently the workshop on home safety and fall prevention with Elizabeth Doughty, Wednesday Soup, and the annual USM Health Screening are on hold. Hopefully, these all will be back on the schedule soon!

Our summer hours effective through Labor Day: Monday 6:00-8:00pm • Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10:00am-4:00pm • Saturday 10:00am-1:00pm Stay tuned to hear about our fall hours. We will announce on the Chebeague website, our website, the library Facebook page, and on our door and rolling outdoor sign. Curbside pickup is available by calling during business hours. Internet access is available 24/7 outside the library. Masks are required for unvaccinated patrons. Please do not come to the library if you are feeling sick.
