Notes From The Council

Summer is here and there are many more cars, walkers, runners, bikers, and scooters on the roads. Please be extra vigilant. Walkers and runners should be on the left side of the road, facing into the traffic. Bikes, cars, and scooters stay to the right. When riding bikes, please ride in single file so cars can pass you safely on these narrow roads. When walking with friends, please step to the side of the road when you hear a car coming. Although bike helmets are not required for adults, children 16 and under ARE required to wear helmets – even on those short trips to the beach. And please be patient. Maybe leave for the boat a few minutes early. Slow down. Dr. Larson will be in the Wellness Center on Saturday July 10 th and You may already know Jessie from the Food Pantry or the School. You may have seen her at the library, helping Place Kids with their lobster roll extravaganza or on ZOOM helping everyone by providing a much-needed opportunity for affirmation during COVID. In the short time Jessie has been a year-round Chebeaguer she has contributed so much to the community. And, like many, Jessie came to Chebeague with a lifetime of experiences and expertise. A childhood on Long Island N.Y. was followed by College in California. Next came a move to Vermont, where she began a family, built a home, and had a long career as a Speech and Language therapist. Jessie started coming to Maine when her daughter enrolled at Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine. Later, friends in Yarmouth suggested a bike trip around Chebeague and Jessie instinctively felt this was a place she wanted to call home. But there were more adventures ahead and Jessie was back in California when these same friends let her know that there was a place to live on Chebeague, if she was interested. With four grandchildren nearby and having already felt the Chebeague magic, she knew it was time to make her home on Chebeague.

17 th , rather than Friday, for those two weeks. Having a doctor here on Saturday during these busy summer weekends will be great. No appointment needed for walk in visits. She has antibiotics (including the one for TICK bites!) as well as allergy medications. Dr. Larson does not bring any type of pain medication and no medication of any kind is left in the Wellness Center. We hope everyone will enjoy being part of the 4 th of July Celebration – either in the parade or cheering on the sidelines. Have a lobster roll and support Kids First, see all the friends you missed seeing last summer, say hello to all the people you didn’t recognize while wearing a mask, go ahead and hug someone, and take it all in – its summer on Chebeague!
