The Planning Board has nine members, seven regular and two alternates appointed by the Select Board. We review subdivision proposals, conditional use applications, and proposed shoreland zone development. We meet with applicants, administer projects through the permitting process, consider public input and consult with experts in planning and design when needed. Our goal is to be fair and unbiased, and balance the rights of the property owner with concerns of the public. We follow the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations, and the Shoreland Zoning Ordinance, along with other applicable State and Federal laws. We also work to promote changes in local ordinances when it is appropriate. o Approved an amendment to the Mansion Acres subdivision o Approved a shoreland zoning permit for Rich McKinnon, 18 George Connors Road o Approved a shoreland zoning permit for Bruce & Linda Theriault, 60 Waters Edge o Approved changes to the Zoning Ordinance regarding non-conforming structures; these changes were approved by Hollis voters on 5 November 2019 Meetings are scheduled on alternate Wednesday evenings, as needed. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and contribute to the discussions. Meetings are recorded and rebroadcast on Saco River TV for those who like to watch at home; archived video recordings are available online, as well as agendas and minutes. The changes required by the Covid19 restrictions have required that meetings are held online via Zoom; the public is encouraged to join these meetings from the town’s website. We appreciate the cooperation of the Planning Board members as well as all town employees and members of the public as we make these changes. Our membership has not changed over the past year. We are in need of two alternate members. If you are inclined to be involved in town affairs in a meaningful way, please consider joining.
